Open Tuner 0.1 - Test Version
Re: Open Tuner 0.1 - Test Version
Thanks you all for the suggestions.
My VLC is the 32bit version.
My Serit tuner is one of the early ones which I suspect does not have the LNA .
Is there a way around this problem without having to change the Serit tuner

Yes, I'm sure it should be possible to make the software smarter to deal with it. Arthur can you drop me your email via a pm. I'm away for work for the rest of the week, but when I get back then I'll trouble shoot it with you.
Re: Open Tuner 0.1 - Test Version
Hi Tom
I am sure that Arthur's problem is that he is using an FTS-4335 tuner, not the FTS-4334 that the shop now sells.
The first batch of tuners we bought were FTS-4335s, which are identical to the FTS-4334 except that they do not have an LNA on each input before the tuner IC. So they are less sensitive.
The problem is that when the software queries the LNA, it does not exist, and causes an exception. We had the same issue with the Ryde software; the cure is to allow the software to continue if the LNA response is not as expected. The Ryde commit that fixed the issue is here. It might help you solve the problem without the hardware! https://github.com/eclispe/rydeplayer/c ... e0e16c3243
Hope that helps

have you selected a voltage supply for the LNB option near the bottom of the screen?
Looking at your screenshot it doesn't show any LNB voltage as being selected??

OK Tom, now I fully understand what it's doing, thankszr6tg wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 6:12 pm
Hi Basil,
Keep in mind it doesn't encode/transcode or do anything like that to the received signal. Recording is essentially just dumping the received TS bytes to a file. The reason it stops after the carrier is dropped is that things get messy when you combine ts data from different signals, as the sequence doesn't match and the video feed could essentially be different codecs.
The record button will start "recording" whatever is being received to a file and closes the file properly when carrier is dropped. The record all will start recording on each new tuned signal (ie, when a video is playing it will record it), but it will also close the file each time signal is dropped and thus create multiple files. If you have the "Record All" checkbox selected during a net then you will get a file for each user/segment.
Hope that makes sense? I'm working a manual/documentation, but things are still changing to quickly to make it worthwhile

Hi Barry
I do not supply volts to my LNB from the tuner. The lnb is connected to a Satellite receiver and the loop through o/p is dc blocked and then connected to the Serit tuner. That setup enables me to receive the broadcast channels and QO100 from the same dish and lnb.

Open Tuner is fine, but the wide band spectrum viewer source has died, and without it Open Tuner won't launch. MiniTioune will still show band activity.
