Not so much an issue but I see the MER is only to 1 dB now, but a finer value is useful when aligning dishes etc. Can it be quoted to 0.1 dB?
Sorted in latest version

Thanks for the continuing rapid enhancements and fixes Tom! One small thing I note is using the RECORD feature, or RECORD ALL, in conjunction with Manual Tune, the recording stops if a station drops carrier, as is apparent watching and trying to record the World Wide Net now. I think it would be better if, at least if Manual Tune is selected, the recording continues through carrier drops. I don't know if anyone else agrees? Maybe it's user error, the RECORD ALL function remains a bit of a mystery as to its intended function.

Thanks again Tom!

EDIT:

Looks like mea culpa, user error. I see if I tick BOTH record and record all it does keep recording with manual tune locked to a frequency. Great stuff Tom, and much appreciated.
Best regards,

It was a lot more fun being 20 in the 70's than being 70 in the 20's

I have been trying for some time to get Open Tuner 0.1 working without success.
My tuner is a Minitioner V2 using a Serit tuner. This tuner works OK with Minitioune s/w and also with the s/w in the Portsdown 4
I have installed the latest version of Open Tuner but when I try run it the tuner appears to be detected but the setup does not complete.
The QO100 display is OK and also the chat but no signal received.
I have replaced the FT2232H module but still no signals received.

Hi Arthur

Suggestions - LNB LO, LNB socket in the Minitiouner, LNB supply? I assume you are using 64 bit Windows.

Arthur

Do you have one of the early tuners without an LNA? Looks like the same problem as we had with Ryde and those tuners.

I think I have one of those in my Limenet Micro. I could test.

Can you show the rest of the log in the console? its ending right before the LNA init section.

Interesting. I have another ham who contacted me, and it fails on the lna section with the id's not returning properly. I wonder if this is maybe related? I thought it was maybe a hardware issue, but since you mentioned it, maybe I'm not handling it properly.

uhm ... no, this doesn't sound right. VLC is part of the OT, no installed VLC required. And both 32bit and 64bit library versions are included.

Hi Basil,

Keep in mind it doesn't encode/transcode or do anything like that to the received signal. Recording is essentially just dumping the received TS bytes to a file. The reason it stops after the carrier is dropped is that things get messy when you combine ts data from different signals, as the sequence doesn't match and the video feed could essentially be different codecs.

The record button will start "recording" whatever is being received to a file and closes the file properly when carrier is dropped. The record all will start recording on each new tuned signal (ie, when a video is playing it will record it), but it will also close the file each time signal is dropped and thus create multiple files. If you have the "Record All" checkbox selected during a net then you will get a file for each user/segment.

Hope that makes sense? I'm working a manual/documentation, but things are still changing to quickly to make it worthwhile
