Portsdown 4 Download problematic

Post by dc1op » Fri Dec 12, 2025 11:58 am

I wanted to prepare a fresh sd card for PD4. Set up a rig with only a rpi4 and a 7 inch touch display and than followed the receipt on the PD4 github webpage. When the installation process was proceeding, saw a number of errors rushing over the putty screen as well as later fatal errors.
The system rebooted and finally showed on the display "bash: /home/pi/rpidatv/bin/rpidatvgui: No such file or directory"
Made several attempts to download all with the same result. Seek advice now. Thanks.

Hi Chris, thank you for the hint. I am afraid that it does not hit the matter. That seems to be an issue with the raspi OS.

I asked a befriended OM to produce a PD4 SD card for me, which was no success, as he observed the same failures on course of the installation and compiling the system like I did.

I prepared a document from the Putty report screen (lots of pages!, attached hereto). It is not complete since the full report did not fit in the putty memory, but should give sufficient insight to recognize what's going on.

PS: Also Ryde is affected. My last succesfull download and generation of a SD Card was mid september.

Hi Hubertus

There is some problem with the Portsdown 4 build at the moment. I am investigating and will publish a fix as soon as I can.

Hi,

you should replace in /etc/apt/sources.list:

old: deb http://raspbian.raspberrypi.org/raspbian/ buster main contrib non-free rpi
new: deb http://legacy.raspbian.org/raspbian/ buster main contrib non-free rpi

Hi

I have updated the Portsdown 4 installer so that it should now work. I'll work on Portsdown 2020 and Ryde tomorrow.

Please try a Portsdown 4 build now and let me know if it works.

Hi Dave,

Just did a Portsdown 4 built using the updated installer. That was successfull. Tested with the express function and internet browser using Picotuner.
All ok.

Thanks Hubertus

I've just updated the Portsdown 2020 and Ryde install files so that they should now work as well.
