Portsdown 2020 Update

Post by G8GKQ » Tue May 14, 2024 5:57 pm

I have just issued a minor update to the Portsdown 2020 (202405142). This includes bug fixes, but also formally adds the Frequency Sweeper capability to the Portsdown 2020 build. The update includes:
  • A fix for the anomalous behavior that occured after transmitting in carrier mode with a LimeSDR.
  • Correct reselection of full range in LimeSDR Bandviewer after using the 20dB range.
  • Speed improvements in the update script.
  • Tidying the Test Equipment graphics routines.
  • Inclusion of the Frequency Sweeper capability described here https://wiki.batc.org.uk/Portsdown_Sweeper.
Please post any bug reports here.

Hello,
I'm using portsdown2020 202405142 for TX (LimeSDR) and portsdown4 for RX.
I'm hesitant to update to portsdown2020 202406181 because I'm worried about damaging my various integrated power amplifiers (70, 23, and 13 cm) if the PTT command is no longer timed during the calibration phase of Lime.
Does the new version 202406181 include any management other than a timer to handle cal power spikes?
If not, is it possible to activate the timer manually?

Hi Mathieu

The change in 202406181 does not set the PTT until AFTER the calibration spike. So, instead of waiting a preset time, it waits until the calibration spike has finished before setting the PTT.

It should be OK, but I suggest that you test it with an attenuator between the Lime and the PAs before using it on the air.
