DATV-Easy

Post by G7JTT » Fri Jun 13, 2025 4:09 am

Morning all need some help with DATV-Easy. I recently added a second NVME drive in my laptop. It had a 500Gb, but this was becoming very full. The second NVME is a 1Tb and is faster than the original one, so once I installed it I cloned the smaller drive to the new 1Tb drive. This seemed to go fine and everything I've used has worked fine, except DATV-Easy. The program runs but when you press start the two green LEDs light but the bit rate remains at zero and the lime doesn't initialise (green flashing led). I tried deleting DATV-Easy, both folders and removed all mentions of it in the registry with no change to it's behaviour. I know the lime is working as SDRconsole and SDR++ work fine with it. So I switched back to the old drive and it it worked fine.

Any ideas ?

Ok so I bit the bullet this morning and re-cloned the new drive and I'm glad to report DATV-Easy is now working 😁 it would still of been nice to know what caused it not to work, but hey who cares it's working again 🥳

Sometimes when you "clone" a drive not all files get locked and unlocked files may not copy across successfully.

John pleased that the issue was resolved.

I recently updated DATV Easy to V3 from V2.17 for no other reason but to have the latest version.

V2.17 was working great with OBS/PLuto, so I assumed V3 would also...how wrong can one be!

The DATV Easy screen shows everything to be working fine, both green lights illuminated, bit rate good but no rf from the Pluto.

SDR Console still working fine on FM & SSB as monitored via PD4 bandviewer, it's a as though an option in DATVEASY has not been ticked or something as straightforward.

Any help with the above would be appreciated.

The problem with any of these "easy" programmes is you do not know what it is doing. If you did this manually, you would have some idea what was going wrong. When a black box goes wrong, you have no idea.

If it is sending data that is good, I suspect the problem is the Pluto. Some things to try.

Is it sending it to the correct IP address?
Has the Pluto got the correct firmware loaded?
Is the Pluto in the correct mode?

You should be able to test the transport stream is good by sending to the local host and looking at it in VLC, but I think your problem is the link to the Pluto and the Pluto firmware and how it is set up.

Mike, thanks for your reply, it's appreciated.

The Pluto worked fine using DATV-Easy v2.17 so no firmware issues there. It also worked fine with SDR Console and continues to do so...

After updating to DATV-Easy v3 something has fallen between the cracks so to speak.

Pluto IP address remains the same as previous.
Pluto firmware remains the same as previous

Pluto correct mode? Unsure what this refers to?

I guess the moral of this dilemma is if it ain't broke don't fix it!

Try "Soft" encoding?

Isn't there a level adjuster slider? is that raised sufficiently?

I seem to recall that without a call sign added in the appropriate place DATV Easy won't TX but I may have imagined that.

EDIT, does having the TX gain % set higher than the max % have anything to do with it??
