Portsdown 4 cannot connect to Pluto

Post by M0NDE » Fri Oct 06, 2023 12:50 pm

I followed the upgrade path for the Pluto. I am happy the update installed. I cannot connect to my Pluto via network cable and my Pi4 does not conn3ct to it. Our tests have shown no ports are open on the Pluto to allow connection. Have I missed out a critical step in preparing the Pluto for Portsdown use?

You need to modify the Ethernet section of the config file in the boot partition of the Pluto with a network address. That address should be in the same network range as the Portsdown and it must not be assigned to some other device.

Check the Portsdown IP address by going to the M2 menu and then press the Info button.

Not all Micro USB to Ethernet adapters work in the Pluto because it does not have drivers for all adapter chips. Generally, adapters with Realtek chips are OK.

Hi Nigel

An ANKER or UGREEN that has a standard USB A plug used with an OTG USB Micro to USB A socket adapter cable will work.

Try https://amzn.eu/d/axN3lRM and https://amzn.eu/d/hNo6HS7
