Hi John,

I'm bringing some printed cases up to CAT next Saturday and you are welcome to one of those.

Only a few days to go, so a few final updates:

Google map link https://goo.gl/maps/RnR7ux9omvK2 - Note that the interchange on the A34 at Chilton is now full access both north and south and not restricted. Pay careful attention to last 100 Mts - the hall is tucked up round the corner - hopefully it will be sign posted.

Event starts at 10:00 - if you arrive before then, expect to get asked to move chairs and tables etc :-)

Tea, coffee and bacon rolls served all day by Harwell radio Club - sandwiches will also available but may run out if we get more people than those that have registered here https://batc.org.uk/cat19-south-registration/

BATC shop will be there with everything in stock at rally prices but cash only.

There'll be a bring and buy area in a side room so bring all your stuff for recycling to others!

Phil M0DNY will be doing an Oscar100 uplink so there could be live pictures from the event - weather dependant.

We will also have a show and tell demo area where John G7JTT will be showing his latest exploits with the Jetson Nano H265 encoder and there will be a demo of the proposed Repeater black box transmitter - if you have something to show, please bring it along to inspire others.

Dave, the Portsdown guru will be running a clinic for sick Portsdown owners and Colin G4EML is bringing some RF test gear and a sneak preview of the prototype Hayling Microwave narrow band transceiver.

And finally there will be 2 talks:

11:30am - Portsdown and LongMynd update by G8GKQ

2:00pm - 3D printing for amateur Radio by Gareth G4XAT

Should be a fun day and look forward to seeing you all on Saturday.

For those coming from the North there may be a closure of the A34 planned around Oxford.

https://northhinksey-pc.gov.uk/2019/10/ ... e-repairs/

There is a potential closure for 8pm on Friday 8 November through to 5.30am on Monday 11 November. The work last weekend was disrupted by the storm so it might be closed this weekend - but I can't find any useful information to confirm. It's no big deal as long as you plan a route to avoid the closed bit. Best check before setting out. It's usually a good idea to check the A34 in any case as there are frequent delays cause by accidents and breakdowns, slow moving Landrovers etc.

Thanks to a donation, there will be small number of used aerials suitable for 5.6 GHz (similar to the one shown below) available for sale at CAT 19 South with proceeds going to club funds. First come first served!

Just a massive thank you to all that organised a great event, lots to look at, met and chatted to loads of people and two great talks. Oh and the catering was top notch too.

Cheers John G7JTT

I wholeheartedly second John G7JTT's comments on CAT19 South yesterday.

As well as many 'show and tell' demonstrations - and many thanks to the contributors for these - there were two interesting talks from Dave G8GKQ on the Portsdown status and Gareth G4XAT on 3-D printing. Whilst Phil M0DNY, provided a live transmission demo via QO-100.

The event also gave the opportunity to chat with other members and put faces to names on the Forum. The Club shop was there, as was Brian G8GQS, raising funds for the MCR21 restoration, with lots of tempting things to buy.

The hall had plenty of parking and provided a nice warm environment, with hot drinks and food available. An outside area provided the opportunity for testing (weather permitting - and it was raining cats and dogs yesterday !).

I think that given the synergy with the Microwavers, a two day event like Finningley this year (TV Saturday, Microwaves Sunday) could also be interesting for next time round.

Many thanks to the Committee for organizing the event.

Many thanks to everyone that organised and attended the mini-CAT yesterday. It was a great day amongst friends. There were lots of new things there and I learnt a lot. The venue and catering were superb.

Thanks very much for all the hard work that went into making yesterday such a success. Great to see so much diverse 'stuff' in the flesh, and their owners too :-)
Forums and email may be great, but face to face still works very well ;-)
