Jessie to stretch ...

Post by G4HTZ » Fri Jun 07, 2019 5:47 am

After 2 years I dug the old portsdown out of the shed ...anyway fired it up all works ok still ..tested with a local station on 70cms.

It appears that the software has changed from Jessie to stretch .
Not being very good at computers, software etc ...I have ordered a stretch SD card from BATC shop.
When it arrives is it just a case of swapping the SD cards over in the pi and presumably setting up with Putty , IP scanner as before .....or does the pi need wiping or does stretch override existing software.

I've searched forum and wiki , but can't see the answer to my question.....although in places it touches on what I'm asking .
Perhaps someone could tell me a quick idiot guide to swapping over the operating system and SD card etc

I have an element screen which works perfectly on the 2017 software what ever version that was .

Thanks in advance

Hi Steve

You just need to plug in the new card and it will all work with a touchscreen without needing any extra configuration.

There is no need to use Kitty any more - it's all a lot simpler from a user perspective than the early days.

Well the answer is ...any case you were wondering....no ...just me then .

If you have a screen attached to your pi ...insert new card ....switch on ....retreat to a safe distance ...and wait while it loads.

And Dave beat me too it :)
