Ok Mike and Dave,

Well noted, I will rethink the assembly in the box, particularly for the grounding of all the circuits. In fact all of them are fasten on a plastic sheet and consequently not aground at all :o
Secondly, I will filter the 7808 with 100 and 200µ condensators instead of 100 and 200nF
At least, I will shielded the wires between various circuits and GPIO card. I already connected 3.3v from RPI to ADF4351 circuit seems better.....
So I have an important work but assume that result will be at rendez vous.

As soon every things are in order I will keep the team informed.

For info, the power supply is 74G8490 IBM and suppose is well filtered. Out 5v.05 and on RPI GPIO 4.94v using a low loss USB cable.

OK Bernard

One warning. The terminal labelled 3v3 on the ADF4351 board is a low current output, not an input. The Rpi 3v3 is also an output, so they should not be connected together.

I have always supplied my ADF4351 boards on their barrel power input connector with 5.2v - the same supply rail as I use for the RPi. It does not need any additional filtering as it is regulated down to 3v3 on-board.

You could use a sheet of bare copper-clad PCB in the bottom of your box to mount everything on. That might ease your earthing issues.

Good luck

Dave

Re,

I have checked all the circuits i.e modulator board, LO ADF4351 and LO filter and noted that nothing is grounded by the support, the ground is only connected with the SMA and power wires. Is it really judicious to reconsider the assembly ??
I ordered a LM2596 circuit for power modulator board and LO filter from the 12v of the power supply (most easy thantake the welding iron :D :D

Shall revert in due time

Thanks your advice Dave,

I will use LM2596 to power all the 5v circuits except modulator for which I can plug 12v due his own 5v regulator.

Great

Last news, infact the problems did not came from Portsdown but Titioune. This was only my fault in using a switching power supply with 5v for the circuit and 12v for converter. I only used the MP1584 module to obtain 6v in front of first regulator and avoid to much current and 12v from my laboratory power unit and immediatly all is correct.
So again we have to remain prudent with switching power
I'm to complete mounting of the new circuit with the SERIT and double FT2232 (home made) and have to be carefull with the power supply, now i know :D :D
