Mpeg2 and a camera

Post by biker_bob » Wed Jul 12, 2017 7:26 am

Our local repeater only uses Mpeg2.
If I get a dongle for the portsdown, so I can connect a proper camera to it, will it be able to do Mpeg2 or do I HAVE to use the RpiCamera?
I know the test card and picture from memory etc are Mpeg4 but I'm not too sure about the video capture dongle.

FYI, My QTH means that direct QSO with other hams on ATV is only possible if they are within 5 miles. The repeater is withing 5 miles and I can just get to it with 30W through a beam at 70cm but it needs Mpeg2.

Hi Bob

The dongle will only give an H264 picture at the moment. However, I am working on getting it to produce MPEG-2. You might notice that I have already added a menu option for it in the console.

So, no MPEG-2 from the dongle yet, but assume that it is coming.
