Hi Christian

Sorry, I can't provide any support for the development download, as it is not configuration controlled and changes every few hours. You'll have to wait for the DATV Express functionality to be released into the production software.

I had seen that LeanDVB had been updated and is generating lots of compiler warnings, so that could be the cause of your problem. I have not tested the new version - it's on my list of things to do, but as the main aim of the Portsdown Transmitter is to transmit, it does not have high priority!

Great that you are playing - by the way, I don't think that it will ever be "finished"!

Dave,

Fully agree with you, I cannot complain by downloading the ongoing development software !
But I checked the install.sh file for the three possible downloads "Production / Staging / Dev"
Even in Production mode LeanDVB is dowloaded from pabr web site, so is submitted anytime the modifications/evolutions from the author
Am I right ?
So in this case, why not make a copy of (any) third party software ("freeze it") to be sure and integrate it in the "Production line"
I am not giving a lesson, I am far to be a software specialist, but I just imagine and want to know...
I know it's always easy to say...

The leandvb update last week tightened some PLL constants. This was needed for QEF reception at 6 dB SNR with --viterbi, but I am aware that it causes problems with unfiltered or overloaded signals.

I just reverted these changes until I have a solution that suits all users.

Hello "pabr"

Thank you (merci !) for having taken into account my remark, taking from your time and revert to the "old" version
I confirm that I again have nice pictures in reception on my Portsdown transmitter !

New Software Release

I've just issued a new release 201702060 that introduces support for the DATV Express modulator board. Full details are in the wiki here https://wiki.batc.tv/Controlling_a_DATVExpress.

If you do not have a DATV Express, I suggest delaying any upgrade until the next release, which will sweep up a lot of stability improvements. If you have a DATV Express, please upgrade, test and post here if you have any problems.

Do old versions remain available? In case anyone does need to backpedal at some point (for whatever reason)?

Hi Graham

Yes, the old versions are all available on GitHub (which is why we use it). It would take a bit of tinkering to build an old version, but it is possible.

However, my aim is that no-one should ever need to use an old version while the hardware standard remains stable. If you have an issue, please let me know.

Just (partially) tested the new release 201702060
Test only concerned DATV-Express board driven by Portsdown transmitter
Tests with SR 125 - 250 - 333 - 1000 - 2000 - 4000K with video source CAMH264 & CAMMPEG-2
All those combination worked well.

I have one combination that did NOT work:
SR500K with either CAMH264 or CAMMPEG-2 video-source
Constellation not well formed
MER switching between 0 and 26dB
I tried with same configuration but with Charles DATV-Express software and it was ok
Perhaps better other people test and confirm ?

Thanks Christian

I did not test 500 KS as it is not a common SR in the UK. I'm already working on the next version, so I will try to fix it.

There is too much to test and not enough time!!

New Software Release

Charles G4GUO has very kindly updated the DATV express_server software to a similar standard to the DVB-S elements of the latest Windows version. So I've just issued a new release 201702090 that works with the new express_server software. It introduces PTT signalling, but not the ability to control Ports A-D (although I hope to have that working very soon). It also resolves the 500 KS issue, giving good modulation throughout the range 125 - 4000 KS/s.

If you do not have a DATV Express, I suggest delaying any upgrade until the next release. If you have a DATV Express, please upgrade, test and post here if you have any problems.
