@Dave : OK, thanks for the report of v4l2-ctl...I see that your dongle provide a YUYV, mine is UYVY...do luminance and chrominance are a bit inversed !! Just need to add your mode in the color conversion and it should be OK.

@Mike : Seems that digithin start to modulate and then stop. Surely a serial issue. in /boot/config.txt , have you set the serial on ?

I think we need a new Digithin as a standalone board (with mounting holes) that does not sit on the header and includes the LO and RF filtering. This would mean it would work with any IQ source and it would be easier for beginners if it didn't need to be constrained to the PI format. Maybe also better for RF stability if it fitted into a standard screened box.
Agreed - ease of construction and reliable performance is more important than compact size and same profile as Rpi. Now that we have a solid release of the software we need to confirm the modulator design that is flexible to do RB-TV and DATV rates. RBTVmod looks the most promising - just need to work on integration with RpiDATV and we will have a compact solution which will be ideal for both beginners and the more experienced.

My Rpi 3 arrives today (only £30) :-) - thanks for all the work Evariste and team.

Success at last. I now have the Easycap dongle giving a good colour picture.
My set up now is a Rpi3 + RBTVMOD board and Easycap grabber. I struggled for a while to insert the script suggested by Everiste but like all these things it is easy when you know how. This is what worked for me.
$ sudo nano /etc/rc.local
then insert the script just above the line exit 0
the script which I used was v4l2-ctl -d /dev/video0 --set-standard=6
then ctrl o then enter
followed by ctrl x and sudo reboot.

A silly question. When running Patern in the latest rpidatv. how do I stop it and get back to the menu. Ctrl C does not stop it.

I was using your image - there is no serial setting. However there is an option for a serial console in raspi-config under the advanced menu.

I cannot get the Pi camera to work in Rpidatv in CAMMPEG-2 setting but it works fine in CAMH264.
I have now had 2 on air contacts using the EasyCap at 333ks/s and both reports have been very good, it is great to be able to use other video sources. Many thanks Everiste.

Mine is working with the latest image on vivadatv.

Pi camera on CAMMPEG-2
Notice MiniTioune recognised it as Mpeg2

And CAMH264

Not got as far as trying the EazyCap yet, concentrating on getting the WaveShare touch screen working reliably.
The camera was out of focus, its just one that I changed the lens on, that hangs around my bench.

Evariste - Thanks for the software update. My EasyCap gives a good picture now; 2MS H264 from a RPi and an EasyCap! Amazing.

I include a update.sh in the rpidatv directory : launching it update to latest version on github without to all reinstall.
Added IPTSOUT : usefull if you have several raspberries with camera to switch from different camera views :
- One modulator get IP IN in source
- An other raspberry send IP through network

I have made a new image with the latest updates and all is OK. except I still cannot get CAMMPEG-2 to work. CAMH264 is OK but when I select CAMMPEG-2 the camera does not turn on. It works for Colin has his pictures show. WHAT am I missing ? I would like to be able to run 2ms/s and MPEG-2 and experiment with an add on board for the higher symbol rate.
