ATV activity weekend - September 10th and 11th 2016

Post by G8DKC » Fri Aug 26, 2016 8:32 am

We were hoping to be down to Dassett Hills Country Park, on the 10th of September.

The main reason for going was to do tests toward the South East, but as the two stations have now pulled out down there,

and heavy rain forecast. working at the back of car and an 80 mile round trip not looking appealing.

Another time.

OK

I have cleaned up this topic in preparation for the Activity Weekend on 10/11 September.

I will probably be out /P on Saturday (Lulworth?) and Sunday (Portsdown Hill?) with 146, 437, and 1255 RB-TV/DATV.

Please post details of your planned activity here!

I do plan to go out /P for this activity weekend.

On Saturday, I will be at Lulworth (IO80PU) from about midday until 4 pm. I will have 146, 437 and 1255 RB-TV, DATV and Analogue. Talkback on 144.75 and DXSpot.TV

On Sunday I plan to go to Portsdown Hill (IO90LU) and will have 146, 437 and 1255 RB-TV, DATV and Analogue. I should be active from 11am.

I can take 10 GHz RB-TV on either day if anyone lets me know that they will be able to receive it.

I know that Malcom G0UHY (IO80FJ) plans to be active on Saturday, and have seen Peter G8DKC's post. Is anyone else playing?

I hope to be out on Saturday from IO94MJ, I should have all bands with me.
I don't think there will be any local activity so let's hope conditions are not too bad.

I am hoping to be out on the Saturday, from about midday onwards. Rain is presently forecast for Saturday morning, but clearing for the afternoon. This time I am going to try Cleeve Common, Cheltenham, IO81XW, 320m asl. Hopefully, going a bit further North than usual will help me to work those of you in the Midlands and the North. However, with rain clearing slowly towards the North, I might be forced further South to the Blorenge. Final decision will be posted here on Saturday morning. I will have 146.5 & 437MHz, any symbol rate.

Having looked at the weather forecast, the Blorenge should be dry by mid-morning, so that is where G6AUR & myself will be going tomorrow - IO81LS - 515m asl. We will have 146.5MHz & 437MHz, any symbol rate, and aim to be on site by midday.

Well we arrived at the Blorenge just after midday. Soaking wet cloud and occasional rain. The second time in a week that the Met Office has got it wrong. The cloud was so wet that if you left a car door open, things inside were getting wet! We set up the aerials and called in all directions until 3.15. We spoke to Mike G8LES but heard nothin else. Getting very cold, so we came home. Hope conditions elsewhere were better. Coming home across the Severn Bridge in sunshine!

Good stuff!
Has been thick fog here all yesterday and the sun has just re-appeared through it now but no tropo.
I have removed all the /p antennas off the van now so it's bound to pick up..ha
