Early morning Dxpedition anyone?

Post by g8gtz » Tue Aug 23, 2016 7:45 am

Conditions are way up this morning - Peter DKC was in to GV and HV and I've never seen so many 10 GHz beacons on the Farnham web SDR and Hepburn predicts they will be there tomorrow morning - Wednesday 23rd August.

So does anyone fancy an early morning QSO - probably need to be on site by 7am! Not sure where I'd go - just seeing if there is any interest first!

I will be at home, transport in use, and still chasing that chance of a signal to ZZ...

Great conditions this morning, Was into HV, TZ and the local GV on 437Mhz.

Had a two way with Arthur G4CPE near Luton, on 437Mhz he dropped his power down to 25w, I was using 3ell straight into SUP up-converter, over 65 Miles and 100Km my best without a repeater involved.

We tried 146.5 but conditions were starting to drop off.

Steve M0SKM who is near TZ was getting into GB3GV with his antennas down, beaming through next doors roof.

Also a quick chat with Noel on 144.750, on his way to service HV.

A fun two and a half Hrs. using tropo.

Attached. Arthur direct and Steve via GV, also my signal received by Arthur near Luton.

Having thought about it, yes, I will go out, perhaps to the Blorenge, if other people are also committed. Because of the preparation needed, I would like to know by late afternoon if it is going to be on. Shaun.
Update; latest Hepburn forecasts don't seem up to much tomorrow morning.
