May activity weekend

Post by g8gtz » Fri Apr 29, 2016 11:10 am

Hi

The weather may not realise it, but the May activity weekend is only a week away - this runs at the same time as the big IARU microwave contest and the RSGB 10 GHz contest so if you radio club is running a station, why not suggest running ATV as well. It does also mean some of the more popular sites may be a bit busy, so get there early!

Due to the ARISS contact on the following Monday, I will only be out on Saturday and will be going down to Dunkery Beacon in Somerset - for more details see https://wiki.batc.tv/Dunkery_Beacon_near_Minehead - with really good take off in all directions except due west.

Station details:
146 MHz RB-TV - 5 watts to 9 ele yagi
70cms RB-TV and DATV - 25 watts to 19 ele yagi

Talkback:
144.750 - vertical and horizontal
http://www.dxspot.tv
Mobile - 07881914287

10 GHz Narrow Band - 7 watts to 60cms dish

If you are intending to be on air (not just out portable) let us know and don't forget to add your favourite /p site to the BATC wiki pages at https://wiki.batc.tv/Directory_of_portable_sites and also to the Google maps page at https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid= ... -HE2sxqL0c

Hope to work you

Ivor G1IXF and myself will be out on the Saturday at a site near Chepstow, South Wales. This has a good take off from South, through East to North. We will be running our new 146.5MHz RB-DATV equipment, 5W into a 9 element Tonna, with talkback on 144.750MHz, horizontal or vertical. I could possibly also go out on Sunday, if there are still stations to work on 146.5MHz.

I hope to be out on the Saturday on the Welsh borders trying some 250km+ paths to M0DTS/P, around Llaithddu and Anchor, south-east of Newtown, Powys.

One of the locations has line of sight to the same place on the Brecon Beacons as Dunkery Beacon. It looks fairly sharp on the plot, so well worth a try. Dunkery is on the left. It won't be too good towards Chepstow.

Hi All

I can do 2m and 70cm digital but only from home IO91IO. This location @100m ASL is good to the North but not good to the South due to my proximity to the Ridgeway though Walbury is OK.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the QSO - Mike G0MJW

I never heard GW4EWJ/P but tried and failed with Rob M0DTS. Noel G8GTZ/P's signal on 146.5MHz was tantalizingly close to symbol lock but not quite.
