SDR television transmit
Hi,
I installed latest sdr console and television and obs on a Win10 corei7-6700 (2016) laptop with pluto (latest firmware).
Console works ok
television rx is ok ( I have to close and start after changing frequency to receive the stream, but waterfall switch to new frquency immediately)
CPU usage is at 30% abt
stream from obs is visible in SDR television
loopback is ok (CPU: 45 %)
When I close Loopback, activate the pluto and press send, CPU jumps to 100% When I stop send, CPU drops to 30% after >5 minutes. There is no output of the pluto always.
Any ideas, what is wrong?
tnx

Btw: The manual is excellent!

Re: SDR television transmit
The laptop is probably under powered Gunter. It is after all a CPU from 10 years ago. It does support hardware H265 encoding but a bit limited.
Have a look in the manual at what to do to reduce the loading,. E.g. Simplex rather than duplex and maybe H264 rather than H265.
The Settings menu, power saving options will reduce the CPU load on RX. Under TX Configuration you can play with codec settings, resolution, frame rate etc. If you are in Duplex mode, the CPU will be working hard to decode the signal, especially if it is a bit weak and that will reduce the capacity available for TX encoding.

Re: SDR television transmit
Reducing unnecessary programs and applications in Windows may help, there's a lot of junk that runs that's not vital to Window's operation. This YouTube video may help, there are probably ones in German too Guenter.

When I install Windows (Windows 10 in my case) I turn off EVERYTHING that's not vital and find it really helps RAM and CPU loading. Good luck, many applications these days are extremely resource intensive and running them demands a pretty modern and powerful PC. Powerful desktop PC's are much cheaper than powerful laptops...And easier to upgrade to some extent.

Re: SDR television transmit
Tnx for these hints.
This laptop is used for qo100 only, So no other programs are active. The link for deactivating processes will be helpful, tnx.
On the laptop a webseserver (xampp), firefox and a terminal for control th qo100 rig is necessary. Together with OBS the CPU is < 30%
The loopback had CPU of 45% only; so I was surprized to see 100 with real transmit (I exspected the same than loopback)
I switched off Recive and sSpectrum, 125KS 5fps, powersave is on. This help a liitle but CPU is at 98% and there is no HF output.
I have another wIn11 Laptop. I will try this one. But my intention was, to use the old one (without internet), when Win10 is not supported anymore.

Re: SDR television transmit
To use SDRtelevision I made some hardware reconfiguration. Unfortunately I made a mistake and there was no output power due to that. Sorry for that.
Before using SDRtelevision I used minitioune opentuner expressTransmitter and DATVeasy (and Portsdown) in different combinations. All were working (with some limitations) up to 333kS; so I did not checked the CPU load.
This morning I tested SDRtelevision RX and TX. BATC waterfall show a signal (128 to 333kS) but no RX video and no constellation.
With Minitiouner OBS SDRtelevision (transmit, pluto on and streaming), webserver, terminal and firefox CPU was 60 - 70 %.
When transmitting 128kS CPU was at 100%; the beacon was visible with minitiouner without any dropout.
Viewing my own signal (128kS) was ok as well but only when the signal in the BATC waterfall was at 13dB abt (more than the beacon with 8.5dB)
With reduced power (level of the beacon) the 3 LEDs in minitiouner were green but no transportstream (and no video)
Same with 250kS and 333kS (no video)
Next to check (tomorrow): SDRtelevision (RX only) with express Transmitter and DATVeasy (CPU load! and compare SDRtelevision transmit with the other transmitters)
BTW: I remember, that I read somewhere, that the actual version of SDRtelevision would not support full duplex.
I could not find this anymore. Can someone please confirm this.

Re: SDR television transmit
Hi Guenter
I don't really understand what you are describing - the best place to get help is on the SDR Radio forum rather than here. I suspect you may be using an old version of SDR Television or SDR Console. This CPU should work as long as the machine is not loaded up with other things.
By BATC waterfall, I assume you mean the spectrum display, was showing what looked like a valid signal, but you could not decode it. Again, try the most recent version of the software.
I didn't understand the reference to Minitiouner. That should not be running at all. If it is, be aware it may be fighting with SDR Television for CPU resource. On my Laptop it typically drives one core to 100% which activates the turbo-mode and rapidly flattens the battery. Best not try both at the same time on an older machine.

Re: SDR television transmit
Hi Mike,
Tnx for the info
you are correct: spectrum is correct not waterfall.
minitioune: I used this software for RX and SDRtelevision for TX. May be, that RX was ok, because this was runing on one core and SDRtelevision on another (quad core Laptop). But I am not very familiar with multithreading (?).
Console version: 3.4 April 21 25
SDRtelevision version: April 23 25
OBS version 31.0.3
May be of interest for you:
all my programs + SDRtelevion RX + express tranmitter 333kS: CPU 70%
all my programs + SDRtelevion RX + DATVEasy 333kS: CPU 60%
Tnx for your help
