I don't know if anyone is interested in this. I did a 3d design for mounting stuff to a Theodolite tripod.
It's the screw adapter and a universal baseplate.
I have been using this to mount CCTV pan/tilt heads for some sat projects i have been working on. But i do know some 10ghz and above guys use these tripods for portable work
I have put the files on https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7032163

Re: An adapter plate for mounting to a theodolite tripod
I am curious as to where you found the pan and tilt head and how much such a thing costs? Is it weatherproof if left outdoors? Thanks for any reply and for sharing your 3D creation files.

Re: An adapter plate for mounting to a theodolite tripod
found it on ebay. they do come up every now and then. but you have to hunt for them.
this version is 12vDC with position pots. so im using the K3NG rotator software for it. so it can be run standalone or via any of the main rotator control software as it uses gs232A format. I have a smaller 240v pan tilt unit im modding to run wiht the sarcnet software using an arduino as controller again PC control. yes suitable for outside as there are external CCTV pan tilt units
Im now using mine for sat tracking vhf/uhf, 1.7ghz and 2.3ghz
I had all this mounted on the tripod using my adapter when i was testing it all out
