Hi,
I now understand that it dosn't matter what firmware is on your Pluto before installing F5OEO 0303.
When installed it automaticaly installes v0.32-dirty.
You live and learn.
Thanks to Matt for taking the time to explain this to me.

Hi,
I don’t use a Portsdown just OBS Datv-Easy and then the Pluto.
All very interesting on peoples findings.
I will continue to use 0303 with v0.32-dirty as it is working.

Hi Martin, I am looking for a firmware which allows me to use the Pluto for DATV and SSB narrow band. I want to use the PA for both. I have tried to TX and it works but I get stuttered speech. I am not sure that this is due to the firmware on the Pluto I have an old version from F5OEO. I also suspect the LAN but this works OK witrh DATV.
If you can use both with your firmware and DATV Easy, where can I get a copy of your firmware and do you need any patch?

With the older F5OEO firmware you need to select pass-through mode to use it with SDR Console and DATV mode for er, DATV use. With the latest firmware that is no longer necessary but I have not tried it, not wishing to break a working setup. I use Ethernet rather than USB, it seems more reliable.

Hi Paul,
I followed the information on Tom's website ZR6TG.

https://www.zr6tg.co.za/2022/06/28/adal ... -for-datv/

The above link should enable you to get the correct files you need.
Worked for me.

Hi All
Bringing my Portsdown 4 back to life and I realised that I had followed Toms indstructions to install 0303 plus a patch on the Pluto.

This does not work with the pluto in the Portsdown 4.

I flashed it with https://wiki.batc.org.uk/File:FIRM2101RC.zip but on reboot the Portsdown 4 still does not recognise that it is running 0.31.

Is there anything else I have to do ie. Delete the patch before the new firmware is installed?
Re flashed several times with the same result.

TIA

Hi Nick,

This subject comes up regularly. Please see: https://wiki.batc.org.uk/Portsdown_4_Pl ... o_Firmware
My understanding is that this is the only Pluto firmware that works with PD4. The installation procedure is the same as for installing the original AD formware.
Good luck.

Hi Russ

I followed all that and still the Portsdown says it is the wrong firmware version.
In desperation I also bought a second pluto with the same result.

Simon Brown has a new s/ware build out called SDR Television and that shows what firmware version is installed on the pluto (see pic)

It confirms I have the right version installed yet the Portsdown disagrees !!

I have ordered a couple of SD cards and will re build the Portsdown 4.
tthat is the only variable .

If that fails to resolve it......

Hi Nick

Please re-check the IP address set in your Pluto and check that the same address is also set in the Portsdown Config.

Also check that you have nothing else that might be stealing the IP address.

My guess is that the Portsdown is connecting to something other than your Pluto.

Russ
As I had the 2nd pluto

I tried it on my Lime Portsdown and Eureka it reports the correct Pluto build.

It has to be something to do with the build !!!

Very strange
Hope when I get the new card it too will work properly

Russ
I performed surgery on the PD4 that was complaining about the Pluto being the wrong version.
Why when a project is finished is it so hard to get back in to !!

I removed the Pi SD card and re flashed it.
Now it sees the Pluto as having the correct firmware etc.
