Alternative DVBS2 reception solution.

Post by radiogareth » Sat Jun 06, 2020 7:40 am

Over on the Amsat-DL forum https://forum.amsat-dl.org/index.php?th ... #post16044 you can find the software written by Marcel. Latest version is 2.0.17. This has grown from a basic DVBS solution more recently into one capable of DVBS2 and as of yesterday it now supports the Pluto down to 70MHz. So we now have access to a S2 decode solution on an RTL dongle, SDRPlay RSP1 (maybe others) and the Pluto.
It does make your CPU work hard but I have decoded 333kS on my old dual core I5 2.5GHz. Its using 1.75 of the 2 available.....
333kS with audio fine on my I7 desktop.
Great stuff - worth a look.

And as of Friday evening Marcel has extended the Pluto upper frequency limit to 6GHz. A simple solution to DVBS and S2 reception on the microwave bands. SDRAngel now also offers DVBS2 decode option, selectable from the actual DVB window rather than the base menu.
