Latest contacts on 70cm DTV

Post by G8ADM » Tue Apr 15, 2008 11:10 pm

70cm Digital is gathering more interest.

I have now worked the following stations:
M0SAT, Watford, using 13W, 5 miles.
G6MNJ, Hemel Hempstead, 180W through a very poor path, 15 miles.
GB3BH, through GB3BH our 13/3 cm repeater, using 100W, 4 miles.
G3PYB/P, Portsmouth, 180W, 110 KMs.
G8LES, Nr. Alton, 13W, 60 KMs.
G8GTZ, Basingstoke, 13W, 55KMs

All from home in NW London using a 19 element Tona antenna at 60 ft agl and base of mast at 350 ft asl.

If anyone else is active on 70cm DATV, Rx or Tx, please let me know.

I am sure there has been many others interested in the past but this my offering!

Hi Kevin
To receive digital ATV on 70cm, you need:
A yagi antenna, which you have.
A 436 MHz to 1336 MHz up converter to feed a digital satellite receiver, a suitable version is the KON70 - 900 PLL - LN from http://www.dg0ve.de at 144 Euro.
A digital free to air satellite receiver, like the Maplin SL30/12 at about 40 pounds. Also works on 12V for /P use.
A 70cm bandpass filter in series with the antenna to keep all the interference out, like the Garth RF Filters, see: http://www.gw4kaz.cymru1.net/index.htm

It would be good to have you on the band, you should be able to receive me from N.W. London.

If you wish to transmit then that's another story...

All the best, Dave. G8ADM
