Hi Brian,

I can't claim to be anything of an expert but I believe all flavours of the C920 work fine, the early version which hasn't been available for 3 years or so had an H264 encoder built in which was advantageous in some situations but not essential. The C170 is also supported but is only 640x480, I'm pretty sure the C922 and C250 are supported too but Dave 'GKQ is the man to ask.

As Mike stated you can stream video from a PC to the Portsdown IPTS in facility, this looks pretty daunting but I've managed it, this means you can use any make or model of webcam connected to your PC. Oh, you can also use an EasyCap on the PC that isn't supported by Portsdown. I just started doing the OBS on the PC thing 4 days ago, it's not bad to get your head around. I'm pretty much a newcomer to DATV too so don't take my word as gospel, I try to absorb all I can but age is taking a toll on the memory.

73 Dave
...are you sure I can't use a pair of 813's?...

Hi

To address multiple questions in this topic:
  • Up to 8 stream names and keys can be set up on the Portsdown 4. The recommended way to do this is from the touchscreen, not the console menu. Menu 3, Set Stream Outputs, Amend Preset (goes Red), Select the button that you want to allocate/edit,enter the streamname and then the stream key. Then from the main Menu, select Output to, BATC Stream. Then you can select from one of the 8 streams by pressing the "Stream to" button on the Main Menu.
  • The Console Menu is no longer recommended as a way of controlling the Portsdown 4. I do maintain it for controlling "Headless" installations without touchscreens, such as repeater transmitters, but there are very few (if any) functions that cannot be controlled from the Portsdown 4 touchscreen. The console menu uses whiptail (based on newt), not ncurses.
  • If you have a choice, you should obtain the oldest version of the C920, which has the internal H264 encoder. However, these are difficult to find and identify. I am aware of 2 other versions both of which are supported by the Portsdown 4 (but not the Portsdown 2020). More information on the Wiki here https://wiki.batc.org.uk/Portsdown_Webc ... itech_C920
Please check the Wiki - many of the answers are there and the search function is surprisingly good!
