DigiThin - Pre-production Info
Re: DigiThin.
Brian,
Ian and I have been mulling over the problem of a lack of suitable receivers for very low symbol rate transmissions, which is going to be a barrier to entry for many. I have searched around and looked at what the satellite feed hunters are using. I came across the TBS5925 from http://www.tbsdtv.com . This is a USB connected satellite TV tuner card which the manufacturers specify down to 200ks/s on DVB-S & DVB-S2. There is also a PCI version TBS6925. I wonder has anyone tried one and do the experts think it might be suitable to our use?
Shaun.

Re: DigiThin.
I haven't tried the TBS units myself. The price is rather high at £150.

Re: DigiThin.
DigiThin Beta testing continues, working fine on 437MHZ.
Today tests were done on 146.5MHz, 71MHz and 51.2MHz
The test file was received on all frequency's
Lowering the frequency requires less local oscillator drive (Thanks Brian)
Very happy with todays tests.

DigitThin shortform kit in BATC shop
The kit of hard to get parts for the RPi add modulator card designed by Brian G4EWJ is now available in the BATC shop.
Please note this item is not a project or complete set of parts - it is the short kit of hard to get parts for the DigiThin project. The kit contains the following: DigiThin is a DIY project with a degree of difficulty similar to DigiLite and also limited at the moment to very low symbol rates and using the PiCamera – it is not a Digilite / DTX1 replacement.
Further links giving hard ware construction details and schematics will be published by Brian under this topic.

Re: DigiThin - Pre-production Info
Hi Folks,
I note from the last posting on this thread that the construction details were to be published here.
I have just received the Digithin short kit today, thanks to the kind efforts of Noel G8GTZ, as I live locally to him, but at the moment I have no information how to put it together - so can anyone point me to the locations of the circuit diagram, Parts List, and layout or ideally an assembly overlay to show where each component is located w.r.t. the Parts List?
Apologies if it is actually displayed anywhere prominent, as I haven't managed to spot it anywhere
Thanks in advance
Nigel M0NQB

Re: DigiThin - Pre-production Info
Hi Nigel,
Sorry for the delay. I don't know how I missed this last night. Here are the links to what you need.
You will also need to install the wiringPi utility from the web. http://wiringpi.com/download-and-install/
This is the RPi software that only lets you replay transport stream files rather than use the camera. I must admit to being slightly out of touch with the full software for the camera. Perhaps Noel could comment.

Re: DigiThin - Pre-production Info
Hi,
This is the version I'm using, no separate wiring file required. Download from Evariste's site.

Re: DigiThin - Pre-production Info
Thanks. I'll put a note in the DigiThin links to go for that one.
