BATC and RSGB have been providing inputs to Veron on a revamp of the IARU Region-1 ATV Contest (first discussed last year in Vienna)
You can see the current Veron draft on the RSGB IARU Consultation Forum at:-

(you will need to register first in order to enable downloading/replies)
The changes enable remote and Rover stations, include updates for digital picture reporting and interestingly includes a proposal to move to June from September. The latter should hopefully have better propagation/weather for outdoor / Rover ops and align with existing activity.
We are keen to boost UK participation from its current low level and would be pleased to receive comments on this

Re: IARU-R1 ATV Contest Rules/Date Changes
I had missed the extension of the operating time, now it's much better.
Just one question,
Is there still going to be a UK contest now that the IARU contest effectively replaces the 'Summer Fun' Contest ?

Re: IARU-R1 ATV Contest Rules/Date Changes
Hi Rob
I had planned that the September Contest would become the UK Contest, although the date will be the same as the Dutch September Contest for obvious reasons.
So, we'll still have 2 normal and 2 repeater contests each year. However, I'm very open to alternative suggestions.

Re: IARU-R1 ATV Contest Rules/Date Changes
Thanks Dave, it clears that up then.
Operating times of the Summer Fun contest is the only other thing, up here we always think that the 1pm start is a bit late, by the time people get setup it can be 3pm onwards.
My suggestion is a one day contest rather than across two days like previously to try condense the low ish level of activity, nobody(?) seems to do overnight operation now and tropo is pretty scarce these days!
11am to 11pm on the Saturday? this gives some opportunity for tropo later on if it crops up but most would pack up before then.
What does anyone else think?
