AllScan UCI120 as alternative to USB Audio adapter

Post by DL9SDL » Mon Feb 09, 2026 9:39 am

Hi experts,
I have running a basic stand alone system V2, inspired by Tech Minds

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DXZr-3HfnI

He is showing in his tutorial part 2 a very nice device called AllScan UCI120 USB Communications Interface.
To integrate this device it seems to be very easy an in deed ist is.
Now the issue: When I press the PTT at the ALINCO Mike, a small text pattern appears at the very lower part of the screen. After some sequences with PTT it fills up the entire scree.
Do I need to change something in the configuration/driver like this ?

pi@raspberrypi:~ $ lsusb
Bus 001 Device 005: ID 1b3f:2008 Generalplus Technology Inc.
pi@raspberrypi:~ $

Would be very helpful to get some hints, otherwise I have to go back to the standard audio USB adapter.
Regards

Full support for the PTT of the UC120 is only available in Langstone V3. It is not available in V2.

The character you see appearing on the screen happens because the Operating system sees the UC120 PTT as a keyboard press and echos it to the screen.

You can disable the echo by editing /home/pi/.bashrc and adding the line below just before the Langstone/run command

Code: Select all

stty -echo -icanon
This is done by default on the Langstone V3 Installation.

Doing the above will prevent the screen corruption however the UC120 PTT will still not work as it is not included in the Langstone V2 build.

Hi Colin,
thanks for the quick reply.
I will upgrade to V3. How to do it in the best way ?
I tried it 3 month ago from github to prepare a SD card with V3 but I did not succeed. Please give me the link to download to V3.

Kind regards

Langstone V3 really needs a fresh install on a Pi5. Some people have run it on a Pi4 but this is not supported.

The installation instructions are in the normal location .
