I have suggested this before but rather than ask people to download the OS and run an install script, which is surprisingly challenging for some, even more so than for the more experienced of us to actually follow the instructions (guilty as charged), produce an image that works and put it on the server. Define which screen is plugged in where and if necessary, have an image for each supported hardware. That way people are all starting from the same point, there are no uncertainties around server availability or badly configured ISPs. This image could be quite minimal but it will still be large.
