Re: Looking for best way to tx DATV from PC
Hi,
I’ve run into a similar issue before — it sounds like your LimeMini is handling the UDP stream fine at the Portsdown level, but the bottleneck might be happening during encoding or USB transfer when transmitting directly from the PC.
DATV Easy sometimes shuts down if the driver or firmware versions (LimeSuite, FFmpeg, etc.) don’t match properly. It might help to reinstall the latest LimeSuite and ensure your LimeMini firmware is up to date.
As for DATV Express crashing on TX, that’s often related to sample rate or modulation settings — try reducing the symbol rate or checking if another app is holding the Lime in use.
If your goal is smoother video, using the PC for encoding and Portsdown only for transmission might be a better setup, or you can try OBS + ffmpeg to stream directly to Portsdown over UDP.

Hi Joe
Thanks for your thoughts on the LimeMini.
Now that winter approaches I will have some time to experiment going through your suggestions.
At the moment I am using the OBS and ffmpeg to stream to Portsdown which has resulted in a good frame rate on 437mhz in the shack.
Thanks again for replying.
