Re: IC-905 - Commercial FM ATV Transceiver
A known and previously described problem with receiving IC-905 FMTV signals with a commercial satellite receiver.
I really want to receive IC-905 signals with an satellite receiver as well !.
I found some time and upgraded my Pace MSS138G receiver.
I still had a homemade VRKL2.0 from Josef Frank Elektronik in storage from the old days.
It can nicely regulate video signals between 0.3 Vpp and 2 Vpp to 1 Vpp and has three video outputs.
This is what it looks like when installed in the Pace receiver.....
Sent with IC-905 FMTV FIL1 - This is what the signal looks like before and after the amplifier distributor....

IC-905 ---> I've been waiting for some time ( over a year ) for some indication from ICOM that they'll be supplying a genuine AV cable.
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it will be available.
I made my own cable with a 75ohm video coax and a 600ohm audio coax + gold-plated plug to minimize quality loss.
As a reminder.....

Feedback from other IC-905 users:
A TX ON/OFF button on the display would also be nice, especially during contests when you need both hands for other things,
and holding the Microphone PTT button at the same time is impossible.

Re: IC-905 - Commercial FM ATV Transceiver
Hi
Regarding front button Tx on/off that is possible. We have set the Vox to preform that function as customizing the button is available in the menus.
A simple 3 pole 3.5mm to stereo audio cable can be used for the video and audio input. Or if you must have two seperate grounds and a 4pole 3.5mm there's this available ready made

Kind Regards

[menu]

front key customize
[VOX/BK-IN]
then select TRANSMIT from list
VOX button will then preform the TX function or any other function selected from the list.

Interresting circuit I think! If you have a schematic of this circuit, could you post it here?oe7dbh wrote: ↑Mon Jul 14, 2025 11:39 amA known and previously described problem with receiving IC-905 FMTV signals with a commercial satellite receiver.

Re: IC-905 - Commercial FM ATV Transceiver
There is a new software update version 1.20 , online to download.....
- Improved the importing repeater list.
Supported importing repeater list while retaining the existing order.
- Added the ability to select other near repeaters using the dial after entering an access repeater
using the Near Repeater Search function on the DR screen.
- Improved the Share Pictures function.
- Added the percentage display for the picture data received.
- Added the visibility of the received block.
- Improved so that a beep sounds after finishing the transmission using the DV Fast Data function.
- Added an option for the Digital Repeater Set function.
- Changed the display unit "m" from less than 1 km to less than 10 km on screens that display distance,
such as the GPS position screen.
- Supported for SDXC cards up to 256 GB
Formatting on the transceiver is required.
According to the update description, nothing has been changed in FMTV mode,
which is a shame, i would have expected more from ICOM.
Improving the audio carrier level and frequency response would have been easy in this software update !!? ,

Re: IC-905 - Commercial FM ATV Transceiver
Such a pity, especially given the very high price, that it still doesn't do digital modes or have the capability via IQ. Perhaps the MK2 will but I doubt it. If it had done and did all the microwave bands rather than just a few of them, I might have bought one. Instead, they implement a 40+ year old technology everyone else is dropping.oe7dbh wrote: ↑Thu Oct 02, 2025 5:39 amAccording to the update description, nothing has been changed in FMTV mode,
