Portsdown 4 Camera/ and Amp

Post by m0pnn » Tue Jan 12, 2021 12:08 pm

Good afternoon

A friend of mine is building a Portsdown 4 and has asked me to source a suitable Camera and an Amp which will bring the output on 2.4 GHz for QO-100 to about 80mw to drive a bigger amp. He's 88 and does not do the internet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Paul

For a camera, I would recommend a Logitech C920 (expensive) or a Pi Camera (cheap, but not as convenient).

For a PA, in the first instance contact Jim G7NTG. Details in the For Sale forum below.

Someone is going to need to do the internet bits for your friend.

Paul, I'd suggest the AMSAT-UK amp kit https://shop.amsat-uk.org/Filtered_S_Ba ... 51527.aspx which I currently use for QO-100, driving a Nokia Pallet amp (same as the ones Jim is offering). Its fairly tricky SMD (mainly the SAW filter) but its clean and plenty powerful enough - I have to attenuate my Pluto depending on kS used.

Hi

Thanks, both I have ordered the Pi cam and the amp. There`s a couple of people in the Telford club who will help him out. I hope when I get to 88 I am still as keen.

Cheers

Paul
