HDMI to USB on Portsdown 2020
There has been some talk of a cheap HDMI to USB dongle floating about recently.
I purchased one of these to try with the Pi back in April but never got round to it.
Today on plugging it into Portsdown 2020 and selecting video monitor and video and audio monitor on M2 was greeted with pictures and sound.
Source was a freeview box.
Also had some success in getting Portsdown to transmit the HDMI input in video and sound. Selecting source as Comp Vid, and audio in auto or easycap.
I had best success at 8psk., but be warned not many combinations work and a good 2 hours were spent to find some that did.

Is there a particular model, chipset, or seller that we should obtain?

Re: HDMI to USB on Portsdown 2020
I don't recommend buying this dongle for Portsdown its not supported.
Information provided as a possibility only.
It will work well with OBS for example with a PC
Im using it to provide a HDMI input on a PI3 to use the Pi 7" screen as a HDMI input monitor

I am interested in experimental tests of all kinds of inputs so have ordered one that looks identical from Amazon. Even if it doesn't work out for Portsdown I may be able to use it in other projects.

This HDMI to USB works fine here, settings: EasyCap Encoder: MPEG-2. Gives the Portsdown a HDMI Input!
Best price and getting it fast use Amazon. I had my Dongle within 3 days.

Just for academic interest - which settings did you find worked? And did you have an easycap connected at the same time.
Mine appears on the webcam preview setting and also the picam (I do have a easycap plugged in)

"This HDMI to USB works fine here, settings: EasyCap Encoder: MPEG-2. Gives the Portsdown a HDMI Input!". Yes but only for Lime family. Not work with Adalm-Pluto. Or, any have aucun combination for work with it?
