146 and 437MHz contest Aug 8th and 9th

Post by g8gtz » Sat Aug 01, 2020 5:48 pm

The 146 and 437MHz contest is next weekend.

I will be on from home IO91KF at times on Saturday but don't expect too many contacts!

On Sunday I will be out portable, probably from Walbury Hill IO91GI near Newbury with good take off in all directions.

The 2 easy bands should make it a fairly enjoyable occasion and I look forward to hearing your plans for the weekend :-)

Just for clarification, the Contest will run from 1200 UTC (1 pm UK Local) on Saturday 8 August until 1800 UTC (7 pm UK local) on Sunday 9 August. The rules will be exactly the same as for the IARU International Contest, except the only bands will be 146 MHz and 437 MHz. Multiplier for both bands is 2 points per km for a two way contact, and half that for a one-way contact.

The basic rules are here: https://www.iaru-r1.org/wp-content/uplo ... -rules.pdf, but please note that entries should be sent to "contests@batc.tv".

The logsheet for entries is here: https://wiki.batc.org.uk/images/d/d5/AT ... 190608.xls

Hope to see many of you on the air this weekend.

Hello all
I'll be on the summit of Brown Clee Hill, Shropshire with Martyn G3UKV on Sunday 9th August. :D Hopefully on air at 11am BST and will have a clear view in almost all directions with QRM free reception. I'm not driving up the last 5m of height gain. It's for 4WD cars.
Zello ATV South and 144.750 FM horizontal until we need to use the beam for 2m TV.

Martyn is likely to be using his 5.6GHz FM ATV kit to talk to our clubmates around Shropshire. If Wirral ARS are about then we could have another try from the highest spot in the county. I'll have my set with me as a back-up.

I'm looking forward to this.

David, its 140 miles between us in a good direction for me. I'll surely be able to raise you on talkback and we can hopefully progress from there. I'll be on I hope from around 11am SUnday, subject to farmer saying yes.

Unfortunately, due to a trapped nerve in my shoulder, I'm going to have to cancel plans to go out /p this weekend.

Hopefully I'll be back in action for the low band contest next month.

Have fun :-)

David M0YDH, I'd be interested in trying 5.6GHz FM ATV on Sunday. I'm in Swindon SN1 3QA. I have a couple of Watts to a 23dBi panel antenna. Path
to Brown Clee Hill seems clear from my home, or I can go to local high spot Barbury Castle 262m asl.

I will only be able to get on the air on Sunday, and am planning to go to a hilltop 20 miles W of Salisbury (IO81UC) near Mere.

This should give me a good take-off towards Bristol, the South-West and Shropshire, with reasonable prospects in all directions.

Talkback on 144.75 MHz.
