MiniTouner Express

Post by KA5BBC » Sun Jul 19, 2020 11:25 am

Has anyone had any success with the MiniTouner Express in a Ryde build?

I have one, the only version currently available in the US, and would rather not crack the case open to see which Nim it has.

If I have to replace it I do know that it is currently taking more than a month for mail to get from BATC or REF to the US so would rather get it done asap.

Ryde uses Long Mynd and Long Mynd supports Minitiouner-Express

Andy - let me know if it does not work. I may have left the enabling lines out of the build script. It would be good to get it working.

My Express works fine with the RYDE....

Although my V2 built on a BATC board will not... although it works fine connected to my PC !
It displays the not loaded message for a couple of seconds then the login prompt.

Great idea... thanks to everyone who has worked on it.

Hi Tony

Does your MiniTiouner V2 have the rearlier FTS-4335 NIM (the one that BATC sold early on, without the preamp) fitted?

If so, we published an update on 20 July that enables that tuner to work. Go to the ssh console menu and do an update to load the latest version if you think that might fix it.

Hi Dave

Thanks for coming back.

The tuner module in my V2 board is FTS-4334LU S1725A-A

I have a spare set of components (Don't we all !). This has prompted me to build it and see if the two behave the same.

Thanks again.
Tony.

Just to add that I have built a second V2 minituner...

And it works fine with RYDE.

So it's anyone's guess why the first one doesn't :)

Hello,

I have ben experimenting with the Ryde receiver using a Minitiouner Express module. All seems to work except that, as far as I can tell, neither antenna input is being selected from the control panel upper/lower selection. I can get a DVB-S signal decoded if I place the tuner near a low power transmitter radiating from a short antenna. The Minitiouner Express works normally when using the Windows software.

Is there something that I am missing or need to patch in the software to connect the antenna port switching?
