July 11th/12th - All band activity weekend

Post by M0YDH » Sat Jul 04, 2020 7:16 pm

Hello all
With a week to go, I wonder who is going out portable for either of these days? Will the weather cooperate?

I fancy operating from the Long Mynd in Shropshire. A small part of the summit isn't owned by National Trust - this is where the Telford and district radio society operate on national field days. I'm getting help from John the club secretary contacting interested parties. Front cover of CQ-TV 261 has a picture taken on the Long Mynd from one of Heather M0HMO's activity weekends

It would be rude to use Minitioune at this location. There are no radar stations nearby this time! Telford members want to try out their 6cm FM ATV with me.

Hi Paul
The weather is going to be sunny with just breezes for wind. :D
You and Dave seem to be it so far so Saturday after 1pm being ready and on air would be appealing. PM me some locators squares and I'll put them into G0MJW Aster RF path program. G3UKV's house is clear line of sight

That leaves GB3UD Mow Cop as the only other station to point a tranmsitter at - if Albert's turned it on. M0SKM and G4CPE at home in Bedforshire may be terrain line of sight marginal contacts. The members in Wirral would be line of sight. I do hope some other members can get away from QO-100 to do some /P operation. Isn't Wales open for solo day visits now?

I'd have my 146.5 and 437 MHz DATV plus a poorly 1255MHz amp. I'll take 71MHz antenna as my 4m telly hasn't had a real QSO. And 5.6GHz FM TV. Callback 144.750 FM horizontal and Zello ATV South

Come on folks - who else wants to come out to do /P ATV on Saturday? Live pics instead of contest cards too. LongMynd receiver receiving on the Long Mynd could then happen.

I'm planning on being out portable somewhere in IO94 but no exact plans yet.
Hopefully confirm alter today.

** Confirmed IO94DF from Mid-day Saturday **

Locally we will be playing 5.6/10/24GHz Analogue/Digital but i will have most bands as usual.

Hello David,
On Saturday I will be in the shack from about 15:15 with 70 and 23cms. Sunday from 09:30 till about 12:30 with the same kit. Yes there's an F1 race this weekend and radio takes 2nd place. I'm happy to try either band although 70cms would probably be the best choice.

My locator is IO91RV. Contact me via Zello or 144.750MHz horizontal.

Thanks Paul. Yes I'm going on the Saturday tomorrow. The only snag may be boggy ground at the usual Telford club site. I hope this can be avoided.

Didn't we just have an all band activity contest a couple of weeks back? 2m and 70cm for me. I did 4m last time but no takers.

I am unavailable on Saturday, but plan to go out portable in the Salisbury area on Sunday with 146 MHz and 1255 MHz. Other bands on request - please let me know!

Will be portable somewhere in the new forest anywhere from Lymington to Lyndhurst most likely Sunday as Saturday is looking busy at work 😪. It'll be 23cm only and will be a very portable setup with around 10W. The idea will be to have it in the works van and pull over at any high spots I pass whilst I'm out collecting. Most likely be mid morning onwards, will have to use my mobile/Zello as need to limit what I can take in the works van without raising too many questions hi.

All best John
