Taking all of the encoding weight off of the Pi while producing a higher quality picture.. a win even if at $169

Hi All,

I have spent days playing with my encoder box and pluto adjusting all the settings available to me as a none programmer.

The best I have achieved is only receivable with VNC but the video buffer analysis just has a red horizontal line.

If I adjust settings with force compliant enabled can get good video buffer analysis display but transmitted signal pulsates on and off.

I have tried adjusting Video Bitrate PCR/PTS and PAT period with no success's.

Time for me now to leave it to the experts.
I hope there is a solution somewhere.

If it is a recent Pluto firmware check the box force compliant... on the Pluto control web page. Pulsing on and off implies UDP packet loss. I have had trouble with it too. Make sure WiFi is not involved anywhere.

Hi,

Thank you for all suggestions been helpful.
Yesterday evening sitting with the cat had a eureka moment.
Used ARC program to reduce the video resolution to 768x432 all fell into place.
So many different settings when using OBS to stream in different ways.
Had missed the high video resolution.
My TS Rate Available 441.130 I assume this is dependant on my network

Anyone know how to select 32k audio on the H265 encoder. I have gone through all the settings and cannot select less than 48K ?

I'll check it this weekend.
I only checked video codecs on my last bugfix for the h265/264 selection in the latest alpha pluto firmware.

There do appear to be a couple of firmware versions on the encoder boxes themselves now too which may not help!

Darren - you don't need to select anything in the box. The Pluto handles it for you.

Thanks Mike. It was just I could see on some examples of the encoders audio page that people had it showing 32k. I have the ip address of the encoder entered and compliant ticked etc but don't see any values change on the encoder after pressing reset. My audio is sometimes coming through but the video appears after approx 25 to 30 seconds then disappears or breaks up. Just thought it was because it was still 48k. I will carry on playing.

Have you increased PCR/PTS ? This is often the cause of lost audio in H265. Put it up to 1500 if you see the analysis going into the red.

The Pluto can re-encode audio to facilitate lower symbol rates so don't assume what the box is sending is what is actually sent. The sub-stream can also be used for lower rates.

Thanks Mike, It does seem to make a difference. The video is much more stable and now have audio most of the time. Just needs a bit of fine tweaking on the different SRs.
