POTY problem

Post by g4bgq » Sat Apr 25, 2020 3:46 pm

I have an issue mounting my POTY feed to a Triax 1.2 mtr dish.
With the end sawn off the LNB and pushed onto the feed I cannot find the correct focal point.
It seems to be with the reflector touching the plastic mount or half way along the feed pipe.
Using an un-modified both NB and WD transponders are fine, but replacing with the modified one only the narrow tansponder is received at reasonable signals.
The wide transponder cannot be received despite being set to 12 volt horizontal.
My question may seem dumb but how do I get the feed to the correct focal point.

Because the POTY reflector is larger than a standard LNB it may not be possible to adjust it to the correct focal point without modifying your dish feed arm.

Lots of discussion about extending dish feed arms (for a different dish, but the principle is the same) here: viewtopic.php?f=101&t=6026

One thing that struck me was 12v for Horizontal.
The norm is 18v unless the lnb is rotated to the opposite polarity.

For most dishes this will be the case - just need to do some simple fabrication to get the modified LNB and lens to where the original LNB used to be.
