Hi all,
I just added an EBay buck converter and a centre off dpdt switch into my Minitiouner, the switch simply puts 12v or 18v to the pcb pin that feeds lnb power to the NIM.

I've never had any luck with those Buck converters, they seem to cause a lot of QRM, especially on the 2m band.

Don't need the buck converter on 2m, only for 18v, that's why it's on a centre off switch. Because the 12v feed is direct from the incoming supply it can also feed a preamp on 2m and 70cm, win win. I always add extra filtering to the converter too.

Don't forget the RT5047 is also a buck converter.

I just use a E-Bay buck converter to get the 18V. The 18V output is fed to a 12V regulator with didoes in the common connection to get the voltage to 13V. The Bias-T itself was obtained from E-Bay.

I really need one of these! The problem is that I no longer have the eyes or the manual security to build one myself. Can anyone direct me to a 'ready made' solution?

Hi David, Richtek make an evaluation board (Digi-Key Part Number EVB_RT5047GSP-ND) that can be used with the Minitioune and controlled with the latest software. It’s expensive for what it is, but saves the eye strain.

This one is configured for testing the various options, more info to follow.

If all goes well should find the PCB in the BATC shop, some minor rework to make construction easier after testing is complete.
