Hi John, the event is at G3NWR's club rooms, Unit 17 Peninsular Business Park Squib Drive Leasowe CH46 1DW
Some satnav gets you to Reeds Lane/ Squibb Drive. Additional signposts will be located for the event. hope to see you there.

Follow the A554 past the B&Q/ Halfords trading estate on your left towards the roundabout using the right-hand lane.
Leave this roundabout at the third exit, Fender Lane, A553. Travel along the A553 for about 1 mile through the first set of traffic lights.
After passing the first set of traffic lights take the right hand lane towards the next set of lights, turning right towards Leasowe Railway station on Reeds Lane.

Follow Reeds lane for 0.5 mile over the level railway crossing. On your right hand side is the new Squibb Pharmaceutical site, pass this and then turn Right into the “Peninsular Business Park”, Squibb Drive.
Travel along Squibb Drive to the end of the building, turning left.
Travel along the roadway towards the end of this building and you should see the Radio Mast outside Unit 17.

Thanks, Bill - I know where you mean (my ex wife was from Prenton, so I've spent more than my fair share of time around Leasowe, Wallasey, Meols, etc. in years gone by) - I will pencil it in the diary, and work/domestic commitments permitting I hope to be there :)

Rather than a day of talks, the emphasis will be on meeting people, swapping ideas, showing equipment and helping with projects
G8GTZ may be there, to help Portsdown builders and users, but not yet confirmed
Test equipment and construction facilities will be available
The G3NWR terrestrial and QO-100 satellite DATV stations will be available for use

Travel:
Plenty of free on-site parking, with electrical hook-up for overnight motorhomers (please book)
G3NWR is a 5 minute walk from Leasowe Railway Station (lifts are available to and from the station and hotels)

Central Liverpool is a 30 minute train ride from Leasowe Station (about £4 return)
Please contact us if you need any help finding a hotel
Talk-in on 144.750MHz

Directions from the south:
Leave M53 at J1
At the roundabout, take the A554 towards Birkenhead (3rd exit at 3 o'clock)
At the next roundabout (Tesco - fuel available) turn right onto the A553 towards Hoylake
At the second lights (not counting the Pelican), just after the 30mph sign, turn right by Aldi
(Mind the 30mph speed camera by Aldi if you miss the turning and go straight on)
About 100m after the level crossing, turn right into the business park
Come round the back and park over on the right

Direction from the Kingsway Wallasey Tunnel:
After the toll booths (£1.80 each way) keep to the right towards the M53
At the sign for the start of the M53, take the slip road to the left towards Birkenhead
At the roundabout, take the A554 towards Birkenhead (1st exit at 10 o'clock)
At the next roundabout (Tesco - fuel available) turn right onto the A553 towards Hoylake
At the second lights (not counting the Pelican), just after the 30mph sign, turn right by Aldi
(Mind the 30mph speed camera by Aldi if you miss the turning and go straight on)
About 100m after the level crossing, turn right into the business park
Come round the back and park over on the right

Don't worry if your satnav takes you away from Birkenhead at M53 J1, towards New Brighton
It will eventually bring you to the other side of the level crossing
You can't see the business park sign from that direction because it faces the other way
The entrance is on the left just before the level crossing sign

We look forward to seeing you. There is another radio club not far away, so make sure you come to the right one!

Still hoping to get to this event - nothing's cropped up in the diary yet to scupper this plan - and good to see that Noel might be there... I might need to get my Portsdown software brought up to date :)

Will there be a BATC shop (coming with Noel) too?

G8GTZ has confirmed that he will be attending. While he won’t have the full Portsdown clinic, he will be able to give help with the project.

The BATC shop will be there. Cash only, with prices reduced to reflect the absence of PayPal and postage charges. The Lime Mini SDR is available only to BATC members and should be pre-ordered from G8GTZ before the event. Other shop items are available to BATC members and non-members.

Wirral ARS chairman G4YWD will open the event at 1000 local time. G8GTZ will give a BATC overview, Portsdown update and an introduction to QO-100, probably split into 2 separate sessions. We hope to transmit these live on QO-100. The rest of the day will be free format.

There won't be any local activity on the Sunday as part of the event, but there should be some activity further afield on the Sunday. More details later.

Just a reminder that Kittens19 is this coming Saturday at G3NWR HQ, Leasowe, Wirral. Doors open at 0900 local with the official opening at 1000.

This is a very informal affair with just two presentations, from G8GKQ (remotely) and G8GTZ.

Further information will be going out to registrants later in the week.

The day after, there will be activity from Winter Hill near Bolton from noon-ish. Horrocks Wood car park is the suggested site at IO83SO46GX. It has a 6ft 6in height restriction at the entrance (vehicles not people). I haven't used this site before, so I'm not sure how busy it will be.

Thanks to Ross G6GVI for recommending the site and going there to check it out.

Brian

Just a reminder that the BATC shop will also be there with all items in stock including a limited number of tuners, tuner PCBs and also LimeSDR Mini, all at "rally special" prices - cash only no credit cards or paypal.

Looking forward to see you all on Saturday.

Noel - G8GTZ
