Choosing LimeSDR-mini or PLUTO?

Post by KenW6HHC » Tue May 07, 2019 3:20 pm

A comparison between the LimeSDR-mini and PLUTO boards has recently been posted to the DATV-Express Project topic on this forum.

If you have not yet purchased one of these SDR boards, then I thought it might be interesting info for readers of this LimeSDR-mini topic.

Hi Francois

I think that the comparison that you are after is here: https://wiki.batc.org.uk/DATV_transmitting_Equipment

There is no topic devoted to Pluto, because it is not the recommended hardware for any BATC Projects. For the Portsdown, we have gone with the LimeSDR Mini as our preferred SDR. You could start a Pluto topic under Digital TV, and if there is enough information, I can then promote it to the top level, but we need someone to do the research!

Hi...the LimeSDR Mini came in a small black box inside an anti-static bag. No accessories like antennas are included in the package. The PCB comes without any enclosure, but an enclosure can be ordered as an additional extra. The size of the PCB is similar to an RTL-SDR, but a little wider. The RF sensitive components are covered with a shielding can. Removing the can reveals the main Lime System RF chip, the LMS7002M, as well as several RF transformer matching circuits.
