Off topic question for the SHF community.

Hi all,

I've just acquired an ex satellite broadband dish and transceiver. The frequencies aren't anything like amateur bands so I think it's only the dish that'll be any use but you may know better?

Ka-band. You won't be able to do much with the feeed but the dish should be very good.

That's an Aries 2 satellite modem made by Gilat in Israel. Downlink in Ka band and a TX uplink at 30GHz. I have one here.
The dish is good for ATV but the transceiver probably can't be used and the modem only has an ethernet output. Unless a subscription is paid, the modem is locked remotely and the 'technician password' is known only to the manufacturer.

Brian.
