With all my MiniTiouner, I use a 40 pin PCB header, never solder all the NIM pins.

BATC sell Serit tuners with vertical mount. Where to get Serit with horizontal mount? I want to rebuild PCB and and want to get horizontal version. Something similar like DATVexpress version.

PS: when I purchased MiniTiouner from BATC, 1st thing what I done, was search for 1.25mm pitch soket for Serit. I like when it is possible to remove Serit from mainboard.

Like the vertical mount tuners, I believe that the horizontal mount tuners are only available in batches of 100 from the manufacturer.

I have a minitiouner batc v2. Strange fault with the lnb dc feed through. Thought I had a faulty lnb as the .3a fuse went on applying 18v for lnb (straight to pin on pcb, no link). After some fault finding it turns out the serit tuner is drawing current (one socket only) in a very unpredictable way. Usually about 4mA on first applying volts but slowly raising till the psu limits (1A). Nothing connected to coax skts and tuner otherwise working fine. This is only on the A skt, B works fine. My guess is one of the internal decoupling caps has gone a bit odd as there dosent seem much else other than the pcb itself in the path. Any one else had this prob?

Replying to myself,
turns out it was the ceramic decoupling cap on pcb had become a voltage dependant resistor... at least a cheap fix.

I just created an item on the wiki detailing the problem and fix:

Thanks Noel.

That really helpful. Does the value matter?

Does anyone have a link to a suitable replacement for this RFC?

No, it is not a problem if you observe the LNA gain. The best is to have 13dB gain.
This LNA has an AGC so if the signal is too much high, its gain goes down and at the end it acts as an attenuator.
If you see that your LNA gain is less than 3dB or negative (=attenuator), you know that your input signal is too high.

So, Just to observe the LNA gain to know what could be bad on this side.

(Near the LNA gain, I have added an emoticon :( in the version 0.9 to give more advertising about the Input signal when it is too high)

This LNA chip is used by ST Micro in their Professional Demo PCB.
