Hi all,

Probably just me but... I'm looking at the wideband spectrum monitor then trying to tune the signals with my Minitiouner. More often than not if the signal is 2000KS/s Minitioune locks on the beacon with a large frequency offset. I am managing to tune RB signals but just getting "bad codec/PID" on the screen, what codec/PID's are people using? To put it in a suitably space orientated way, "learning curve, it is".

...are you sure I can't use a pair of 813's?...

Yes had some of that this morning, my problem is the 1m dish is not good enough quality to get the average signal decoded.

I have decoded several transmissions close to the original yellow line.

So, try latest tuner (build MKII Rx) parts in stock, look out for quality dish.

This one will be lost behind the shack.

Also feedback from users across UK, is the foot print not as flat as thought, North - South.

Are people now using larger Rx dishes than first suggested.

E.G TRX one dish setup could mean, dish size now up to 2-3m

The 15th of February decoding was good, moved dish again back to original location.

Changed to another LNB with more focus adjustment.

Learning curve with "quick change" Frequency, modulation and S/R, can almost decode picture now just looking at Spectrum Monitor :)

Operator error, have changed Low S/R setting in minitioune.ini file 1=ON , now OK, .ini says, decode all below 6500 kS/s.

If left unticked lowest you can decode is 300 kS/s. You all know better than to forget this :o

Yes a better dish, but not as "urgent" as yesterday.

Now to build the MKII Rx with Serit tuner / NIM, missing out on 32APSK, 8PSK etc for a start, another lesson learnt.

I have found a little extender card to add Serit NIM to Mk1 board, but not playing with this at the moment.

what is the software used for the WB spectrum monitor?
I am trying do do something similar with a LimeSDR mini and SDR# but I am not satified as I cannot enlarge/expand the vertical scale: I can get only steps of 10dB...

Claudio

Its a bespoke Linux application written by M0DNY. Based on an Airspy. Details here https://wiki.batc.org.uk/Es%27hail-2_Ground_Station. Code will be published on Github in due course.
