Aztex Electronics TVTX 24 Transmitter
Hello all
I spent the late afternoon yesterday at my TV neighbour Dave G7MEG 's shack. He lent me the above FM ATV transmitter to investigate. He has bought lots of kit from Harold Bent G0EZW of Nottingham some years ago. This is from that sale. Nowt on the internet and it's a likely candidate for a new BATC wiki page.
Crystals are 4.90295 and 4.87891 MHz
Does anyone know about this unit and / or have information like the owner's manual please?
All the best

Re: Aztex Electronics TVTX 24 Transmitter
From the date codes early 1990s - so naturally I looked up the CQ-TV archives. I am hoping nobody will mind my adding a screen shot of the advertisement in CQTV-160. This says there is a review in CQTV-150 but I can't find that issue in the archive.

Re: Aztex Electronics TVTX 24 Transmitter
Thanks both. Steve sent me a pdf if CQ-TV 150 with the full review and measurements. Plenty to read after watching today's rugby match.

Re: Aztex Electronics TVTX 24 Transmitter
Hi Dave,
Aztex Electronics was my company and I ran the business for around five years and finally stopped trading around 1993. Not sure how many transmitters I made over that time, but it would be in the order of 50-60 units. I already had a full time job and Aztex Electronics was done in my spare time. Unfortunately, the business became too successful and I just could not keep up with orders, so sadly, I decided to close the business.
Most of the units came with two output channels, 1249 and 1255 MHz. with a divide factor 256.
What seems to be the problem with the transmitter you have there?
Regards,
Ken G4BVK

Re: Aztex Electronics TVTX 24 Transmitter
The main problem is usually me not knowing anything about ATV, Ken! I've had the unit 1 day so far. The forum has given me lots of info in a short few hours. I shall get it going and look for a signal on my SDR receiver when time allows. Then connect the Portsdown video output to its video in rather like with the 6cm drone gear and point the aerial at Mow Cop GB3UD. I can watch the streamer channel for my test card. Dave might have an analogue tv receiver in the cupboard which would be easier.
Thanks for the offer. I will report back what happens.

Re: Aztex Electronics TVTX 24 Transmitter
Make sure you have the RF output terminated into an antenna or a 50 ohm load, otherwise you could damage the output module. The output power can be anything between 1-4 Watts, depending how the thing is setup.

Re: Aztex Electronics TVTX 24 Transmitter
Thanks Ken. I have a reasonable yagi and a 50 ohm dummy load for my 23cm DATV station. Your customer Mr Bent wrote 1.5W on a paper label on the bottom face. Dave has a power meter for the band that I can borrow. It could turn out very well. I've read the CQ-TV 150 article where the impressed reviewer bought the unit after the review.
Re: Aztex Electronics TVTX 24 Transmitter
OK - spurred on by this I have just added issue 120 to 150 to the CQ-TV archives ( we do have them all, just need time to upload them).
Don't forget there is an index which you can search on the wiki and would have found Aztec - BTW we need someone to complete the index (nice Christmas project?).... https://wiki.batc.org.uk/1988_-_1992_CQ ... _CQ-TV_160
Will upload the rest tomorrow - off to see who got murdered in Exeter or was it Epping or Enfield...
