October Low band activity weekend (20th - 21st)
October Low band activity weekend (20th - 21st)
In response to requests to limit the amount of bands for activity days, the October activity day will have a focus on 71 and 146 MHz.
Everything else stays the same - 2 days of fun on the bands and a chance to go out portable and see if your gear really does work!
Please report proposed activity on the forum - I will be out somewhere in the south of England on both bands.
BTW - It is also planned to make the March Activity day dedicated to the higher bands (5665MHz and above). There will be an award for the best DX on 5665MHz - full details to be announced nearer the time.

Oh Dear !!
Well its official then. There's too much activity so we have cut it down by reducing the bands available for activity.

No -
And it's in reponse to comments made in this post viewtopic.php?f=115&t=5641#p16711 - not too much activity but too much gear!
Seriously - we are not limiting other bands, in fact I'm sure I will be the first to take out more gear, just suggesting people focus on the Low bands this time.

It would be interesting to have a list of who has equipment for each of the bands we use.
Re: October Low band activity weekend (20th - 21st)
Hi Rod,
That touches on an issue we've been discussing following Hamfest wehere we had a number of people asking about how they could contact other ATVers in their area and find out which bands people are active on.
Unfortunately whilst BATC has that data and could publish it we are obviously are bound by GDPR which prevents us from releasing any personal data.
We did consider extracting just the UK postcode data and putting it in to a Google (like the Portsdown users map https://batc.org.uk/contests/portsdown-users-map/ ) and then having an arrangement whereby members emailed us and we forwarded it on the the station at the Postcode - but we feel even that could be considered against the spirit of GDPR.
What we are currently investigating is a map where you (not BATC) can add your station details at your location and there will be an email button which people can use to contact that station directly.
So work in progress...

Re: October Low band activity weekend (20th - 21st)
Hi
I'm planning to be at Walbury Hill (IO91GI) on Saturday with my "new" 4 element beam on 71MHz (thanks to John, G4BAO) and also 146MHz with 9 ele tonna. Should be a good signal to most of southern England - if I can get it up high enough!
Talkback = 144.750 (H and V), 07881914287 and Zello.
I will also be out on Sunday with the same bands plus 24 and 76GHz as it is the final UKmicrowave group mm contest - times and location TBD.
Also Dave G4FRE will be out near Hereford with 71MHz on Saturday and should be a good signal in to the Bristol / Bloringe area.
John G4BAO near Cambridge is hoping to have 71MHz rx working so he would be keen to know if anyone is going up to Dunstabale Downs

I still need to build everything for 4m including antenna so not on there yet!
