Open it using any windows app (including picture viewer) - it may appear right way round but save it anyway and it will then be OK.

Also using a V8 - I nudged the family sky dish a bit to the right and found and decoded the BADR signals ok. The dish is the larger ?Region 2? type 70x60cms.
The best signals appear to be on transponder 15, 11996 MHz, Horizontal, 27500, 3/4 FEC. so 18V and 22kHz are needed at the LNB
Now I just have to nudge the sky dish back again!

Just one thing to add is if your using a Satellite receiver to receive BBC Arabic service on Badr Sat and the LNB out to drive the minitiouner, then remember the LO is 10600MHz not 9750MHz. So 11996MHz - 10600MHz = 1396MHz also you need to change the PIDs to 2360 & 2320

As the UK longitude 26 degrees west of the satellite, polarisation is tilted too, it is going to be practically the same as for 28E so the standard LNB setting ought to work. A very long time ago I wrote a very simple, bug ridden approximately correct excel routine to work out where to point one's dish but regrettably, the forum does not allow excel files so it is a zip.

That was how I set up the dish in the garden with the laptop and minitiouner but as I wanted to use it on narrowband as well as TV, using the satellite receiver to do the switching seem the easy option. I just split the signal from my LNB out to go to my SDR and minitiouner and select an appropriate channel on the sat RX to switch horizontal or vertical.

Hi all after installing a 3db splitter to share the signal from my dish to the Minitiouner and my SDR I noticed some data type signals on the SDR waterfull. A quick search on the web showed these were the sats telemetry and beacons signals. So as an alternative to setting up your dish looking for a digital TV signal and adjusting it based on signal quality, why not use a cheap SDR dongle with a bias T ? Well unfortunately Badr 4 has beacons and telemetry above 12GHz which means you need the high LO and the resulting IF will be outside the cheap SDR's. So instead look for the telemetry on Badr 7 on 11200.5MHz horizontal (turn LNB by 90' if using 12v) using the low LO (9750MHz) the IF will be 1450.5MHz +/- errors in the SDR.
