In order to try and maximise the number stations available to work from Long Mynd or Brown Clee (2 very good sites near Telford) ...
Noel, I'll have line of sight to Brown Clee from Dassett Hill but Long Mynd will be in the shadow of Brown Clee for me. Do you think it's likely that people will be on Brown Clee? You said "or" in your post.

Hi Ray,

I have asked the Telford Club to confirm which site we will using.

There seems to be lots of interest and several stations going out to work us so I will be taking some gear up as well for most bands from 71MHz to 76 GHz.

Myself and Seamus G7ITT are planning on being QRV 146.5MHz from IO84SQ on Saturday, possibly with 23cms rx too. Will have 144.750 and WhatsApp.

@M5TXJ - I think we and several other stations will only be out /p on the Sunday.

@ M0DPH - looks like it will be Long Mynd as that is open to the public and there's no limit of people / cars who can go up there.

It's not as good as Brown Clee but still got good coverage on 70cms.

I will take 70cm and 2m up to Winter Hill then. Maybe also 4m via a Halo and 23cm. Nothing higher as it won't go from there.

Two plots from the new path profile - first coverage at 70cm assuming 1kW EIRP, second something that lights up the terrain and finally a Google Earth KMZ file which, perhaps not surprisingly, allows you to overlay the coverage plot on Google Earth.

Thanks, Noel. I'll head for the car park at Broadway Tower (IO92BA) instead then. This looks like an easier path to Long Mynd.

The Bristol group have decided to put on a joint portable station on Sunday 5th August at Westbury White Horse, Wiltshire, IO81WG, 228m asl. Looking at the plot from Long Mynd, this should be OK for VHF/UHF, but less hopeful for 5.6GHz. However, Westbury has quite a good take off in most directions and so we should be able to work other stations as well. The plan is to stage 4m, 2m, 70cm, 23cm and 5.6GHz(FM), which should stretch our logistics and management to the limit! We hope to be on site by 10.00am and set up soon thereafter.

Had this email from Barry G8AGN:
If there are definitely going to be 5.6G ATV stations operating from Long Myndd / Brown Clee on Sunday 5th August, then Richard G0RPH and myself will go out to operate 5.6GHz from Merryton Low (near Leek in Staffordshire) to give people a couple of contacts.
