It should just be a matter of programming..?

The only thing to check is that there is no short on the feeder to the Antenna, I somehow managed to blown mine, it now gives no output, I had to hardwire a (fused) feed direct from the incoming 12V supply.
In another thread it is mentioned that even when switched off in the Menu, there is still a small voltage on the feeder.

Using a Satellite inline amplifier is a a good idea since the receivers don't tend to be super sensitive, these can be easily opened and the DC feed through blocked, so the Power feed goes no further.
But if you have a good location and a strong signal to receive, you can do without one.

So In the menu system:- Add a new Satellite called "Amateur TV" or whatever.. Set the LNB frequency to 10,000 (to make your frequency calcs easy).
Add a Transponder (TP) set to whatever frequency you are wanting to receive on, plus 10,000 (ie, the LNB Frequency (shift) above). So your 1,316MHz will become 11,316MHz.
Set the Symbol Rate to 4M Sym/sec.
and Save those.

Then when you have your Antenna setup erm.. set up, do a TP Scan.. and it will find any available signals. which you save as channels.

Get yer skates on, it's an activity weekend coming up who knows what you might pick up..

You can add Transponders for all the expected frequencies and doing a scan will scan them all, in case you have a local unexpected transmisison...

Don't forget that you see nothing.. Until it just suddenly appears on your screen. Before that, you can't tell if its just below the threshold or nowhere to be seen.. You can't direct your antenna to gain a little better picture.. There's none of that stuff.
It's either there (in fantastic quality) or it's not.

The Comag will add another level of uncertainty since it freezes on the last good frame. You can Add a "Lock" Light to them which helps.

If you have an SDR Receiver stick you could try that on your antenna setup first to see if there is a signal being received and even use it to optimise your dish alignment.

Unless you know there is something to receive you are heading for disappointment I'm afraid, Digital TV is not very friendly for setting up.

Good luck though, I hope it turns out well, let us know how it goes.

I have several Comags ( someone gave me several in the box new ) and i already had 3 , they all have an annoying issue on all models. When I connect a scart plug to obtain video (scart to phono) to feed into a monitor, there's a flicker on colours and other artifact's. I don't get this with any other make of satellite receiver. Fortec Star, Tevion etc. Only the Comags.
The fact they don't have a normal av out on phono's is frustrating as many other manufacters do have.

Anyway, does anyone else get this instability ?

Many thanks Ken

Can't say I've seen it on my Comag Ken, but it is usually connected to the small reversing monitor so it may not show on that tiny screen.

Next time I'm over we can try it on your monitor if you like.
