26.0E

Post by G4CPE » Tue Jan 23, 2018 12:06 pm

I am now receiving good pictures from Badr satellite at 26.0E with a 1m mesh dish. Also decoding well with a Serit tuner and MiniTioune 0.7.
The next task is getting a 13cms TX setup, probably with a separate dish.
Is there any news on possible launch date.

Hi Arthur
thats great to hear.
I have yet to box my minitioune but want to use it with Es Hail Sat.
What kind of RX levels are you getting?
Could you perhaps share your settings and a screen shot of the Minitioune display.

Re launch...... maybe 2018 LOL

who knows I have seen no updates for a while

Hi Nick
The signal from Badr4 is not strong but decodes well. I am using a old Sky LNB which is not particularly good but a 0.1db device is on order.
I am using a Technomate TM-5500 D satellite receiver and looping the IF output to the serit tuner. The broadcast signals use a high symbol rate of
27500Ksps which Minituone V 0.7 handles very well.
The picture is of BBC Arabic on 11996MHz Hor. 3/4

Thats fantastic, thanks Arthur.
I have a modified dual output LNB somewhere that I think I can feed directly to Mini Tioune.
One output is for SSB and the other for DATV.

I was wondering what size dish I would need and it looks like a 1m dish is going to be adequate from your picture.

Unfortunately my garden is North facing and so I am hoping a ground mounted dish at the bottom of thre garden will see over the house roof.

Everything crossed.

My new 0.1db N/F LNB ( Technomate TM-1 ) has arrived and has been fitted to the 1m dish and is a big improvement over the old Sky LNB.
The Badr satellite at 26.0E is now really solid even in heavy rain.
I have been testing my set up performance at 10.495 GHz by using my 10GHz DATV TX acting as a beacon on very low power and have found the LNB to perform very well at this frequency with the IF output at 745MHz into a Serit tuner setup. My Technomate TM-5500 D satellite receiver would not tune to this low IF but I have discovered my CoMag SL30/12 is happy to work down at this frequency and will de code well at 1msb/s.

What is the latest info on a launch date for Es Hail sat 2 ? one site quoted 28/3/2018.

Hi Arthur,
Keep an eye on this list as I'm sure it will be updated when the bird is ready.

It's down the list with no date at present.
