January 13th / 14th Activity weekend
January 13th / 14th Activity weekend
Don't forget - this coming weekend is another excuse to spend some time in the shack or go out portable and test all that gear you've been building.
This is not just for the portable warriors who go out to the local hilltops (the weather forecast is dry but cold) but is an opportunity to get on the air from the shack and work a few locals, either using simplex or your local repeater.
A lot of people seem to be experimenting with 5.6 GHz and hopefully we will see several people out /p trying to work other groups - don't forget the current record is still 138Km and held by the South of England team
G8GTZ/P current plan is to go Walbury HIll (IO91GI) on Saturday with 24GHz, 5.6 GHz and other bands depending on demand and possibly somewhere different on Sunday, depending on other activity.
If you are planning / thinking of getting on the air or going out portable, please post your plans here.

Re: January 13th / 14th Activity weekend
Hi
On Saturday, I plan to go to Lulworth in Dorset IO80WP with 146.5 DATV, 5665 FM ATV and 24 GHz DATV. Talkback 144.75. I could possibly be persuaded to take other bands if there are any requests. EDIT: SEE BELOW, site not available, so going to Butser Hill instead.
On Sunday I am prepared to travel within about 50 miles of Southampton if anyone wants a contact on 146 DATV, 432 DATV , 1255 FM or DATV, 5665 FM, 10 GHz DATV or 24 GHz DATV (max 3 bands). Just let me know (here) and I'll select a site.

Re: January 13th / 14th Activity weekend
Unfortunately, the Lulworth Ranges are active this weekend so I am unable to get to the hilltop there. I now plan to go to Butser Hill IO90MX near Petersfield on Saturday with 146, 5665 FM and 24 GHz DATV.
On Sunday I may venture further West (Maybe within range of Dartmoor) but still tbd.

Re: January 13th / 14th Activity weekend
I hope to give my 5.6GHz kit its first outing on Sunday 14th February. This will be a shake down exercise and I am not aiming for DX. I will be going to Gypsy Lane, Burnett, about half way between Bristol & Bath. This is line of sight to the Mendips where Noel will be operating. It also has a reasonable take off West to South Wales and North to Bristol and beyond. I will be on site about 1.00pm, monitoring 144.750MHz and 07378 348 455. If this is successful, I hope to go to a better location next time, perhaps the Blorenge, which should be good for 5.6GHz.

Re: January 13th / 14th Activity weekend
If anyone is around Falmouth Cornwall IO70LD I have a 5.665GHz RX on my website with aerial pointing NE 14dB most of the time. So if you want to test your TX and can monitor the web it may be useful. I find Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome works better than Firefox on my website video feed for some reason. The max number of viewers is limited due to bandwidth. Also you can monitor my GB3NQ RX on another page but wet weather effects the signal.
If you are on holiday down here sometime, then Pendennis Castle carpark or the Pendennis Point car park are line of site to me.
