ADALM-PLUTO (new DATV SDR)
This is just a heads up.
As those who follow me on Twitter know there is a new SDR transceiver available from Analog Devices
called the ADALM-PLUTO. It is aimed at the educational market (i.e us).
Nominally it works from 328 MHz to 3800 MHz however the current model can be modified in
software to operate from 48 MHz - 6 GHz on transmit and 70 MHz to 6 GHz on receive.
It produces about 1 mW output.
I am in the process of adding support for this device to the Express Software.
Initial tests are looking good, more work to do though.
The introductory price of the board is $99 which equates to around £91 after VAT is paid.
They are available from https://www.digikey.co.uk/products/en?k ... lm%20pluto
I just thought members might like to know about this device as it is selling fast and
at the introductory price is very cheap for something of this class.

Its a very good price indeed. Mine, which arrived unexpectedly on Saturday as I had forgotten I ordered it back in April, also covers the extended range. I am not sure if that is accidental or will apply long term. At £92 and covering practically all of our DATV bands below 10GHz on transmit AND on receive is surely a bargain and a good indication of what we have to look forward to as SDR develops.

Re: ADALM-PLUTO (new DATV SDR)
Will receive mine next Monday...Charles do you plan to make a commit on github for the PlutoExpress ?
Re: ADALM-PLUTO (new DATV SDR)
Probably in a couple of weeks. I have corrected quite a few things in the project files
and put hooks in for LimeSDR so a lot of files need changing.
First I will release a 32 bit binary. I am trying to improve RB DVB-T at the moment.
I know DVB-T is not important to most people.

Re: ADALM-PLUTO (new DATV SDR)
The main reason DVB-T isn't being used is we can't receive it yet in reduced bandwidth. If that were possible I think it might work a lot better on long VHF paths. The Lime and now Pluto might be a solution to that, though the challenge is going to be demodulating it.

The Windows drivers for the ADALM-PLUTO are here
https://wiki.analog.com/university/tool ... rs/windows
The notes on how to extend the frequency range are here
https://wiki.analog.com/university/tool ... ustomizing
You will also probably have to install the VC++ 2015 re-distributable (32 bit version)
https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/downloa ... x?id=48145
Alpha testers will need this information when I release the test software later this weekend
(it is almost ready). I am going to try and install it on my Pipo this morning first.
I see Digikey stock is down to 32 units this morning.

Re: ADALM-PLUTO (new DATV SDR)
Just ordered one myself and mentioned it to the local crew here - guess they'll all be gone pretty quickly.
