Audio and Video Capture Devices - Help Please!

Post by G8GKQ » Sun Jul 02, 2017 8:36 am

I am doing some development work to automate the switching of audio and video capture devices on the Porstdown, and want to make sure that it is likely to work with everybody's devices. For this I need to know what you are using.

To get the information, please plug in your microphone dongle AND Video capture dongle, and go to the command line (from the Console Menu, Shutdown and Reboot Options, Option 3, Exit to Linux). Then type in (or copy and paste) the following command:

Code: Select all

arecord -l
(thats a lower case l as in lima).

Please paste (or photograph or screenshot) the response here. It should be something like:

Code: Select all

**** List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices ****
card 0: usbtv [usbtv], device 0: USBTV Audio [USBTV Audio Input]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 2: Device [USB Audio Device], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
Once you have done this, you can type

Code: Select all

/home/pi/rpidatv/scripts/menu.sh menu
to get back to the console.

If you help me with this, I can make sure that I support your configuration. If you don't bother, please don't complain when the next update breaks your Portsdown!

Hi Dave G8GKQ,

I am running my RPi3/Portsdown-SW/DATV-Express-modulator in the CAMPEG-2 mode with the PI-camera installed and a Logitech USB-based headset with boom-microphone also installed. The audio seems very reasonable. My linux printout is:

**** List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices ****
card 0: Headset [Logitech USB Headset], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
