Eee by gum.. Left it while the last day and what a cracker, good weather- sunshine and clouds, a bit chilly outside in the breeze but I used the secret weapon (ATV bus) so could hide inside lovely and toasty.
There were quite a few callsigns around, most of which I couldn't hear on 2 or 23 andneeded Gary to relay messages. But..
From my location IO93JO38 near Barsdale Bar on the A1 I had some excellent P5 pictures from Gary M1EGI, just North of Sheffield, and later on some good pictures from Bob G6AVU in Gainsborough, although getting pictures back to them didn't work for several reasons.
Ken VDP was also around but had some technical issues.
I took loads of pictures on the phone but since I didn't send them I discovered that particular app doesn't save them, Grr.
Looking forward to the next Activity weekend then, this one was a good shakedown, showing the problems I'm liable to have.
Easter weekend

Re: Easter weekend
This was a surprise..
The Picture received from Gary using the Comtech PCB receiver, inline Preamp at the AE head.

Remove the AE from the Comtech and put it into the Amstrad SRX200 Satellite Receiver, boom!

I always thought that the Comtech was gonna trounce the old SRX I couldn't have been wronger, I have lugged that old SRX around on the Parcel shelf for over 20 Years. Looks like it will get lugged around for another 20.

Re: Easter weekend
Sounds like fun was had - family matters meant I couldn't get out
However, Tony G1HBD and I are planning a Playday visit tomorrow (Thursday 20th April) up to Walbury Hill / Coombe Gibbet near Newbury https://wiki.batc.tv/Walbury_Hill_near_ ... _Berkshire if anyone is around - might even take 23cms FM!
Re Comtech vs Amstrad - to be honest, there shouldn't be that much difference and it looks like the Comtech has a fault. I've used both and generally the Amtstrad is worse on the narrower band ATV transmissions as the filters are designed for 27 MHz satellite and are wider than the Comtech.

Re: Easter weekend
I figured that the SRX should be worse for the above reason, I have another comtech Rcvr so I might try a comparison with that one next time round, but meantime I'll look on T'interweb to see what mods are/were possible.
Yes it wasn't a bad day out, all in all. It did highlight all the things I had forgotten, like.. Camping Stove/Coffee, Binoculars, compass and Map!
